my garage is the best shop in town. You can get a double din HU which will take up both of the spots or a single din which will come with a pocket to fill th elower slot. I like clarion HUs, blaupunkt are good, of course pioneer is good as well.

i would go with pioneer. I had like 3 already and they all sound good. got on in my 02 also. the aftermarket adapters with the pockets don't look good at all on the 5th gen. Wrong color and don't even fit right. If you want it to look good. Go out and buy a GXE dash kit. It's about 100 bucks from the dealer, but you'll keep your interior looking nice. also you're gonna need the adapter to make the hu work with your bose system.

clarion is good? my current HU is a clarion and it over heats in the summer and stops playing cds until it cools down a bit... personally, i'd go back to my kenwood if i could... never had any problems with the kenwood except for a couple millisecond skips when i hit hard bumps...

ALPINE for sure.....the alpine's i've had sounded really nice. On top of that, they look great and are easy to use.

How much ya wanna spend and what do you want ? I am gonna sell my CVA1014 which has been in my car for a week. It comes with the expanssion box and Sirrius sat radio- both in the box never opened. I don't want a slide out screen anymore, I might get a new IVA-W200 which is a double din Alpine. I only buy Alpine stereo equipment. Kenwood and Pioneer are junk. I dont need any gizzmo displays or stupid features, Alpine is plain and simple to use- plus its high quality. I've never had a Alpine break on me, and I've had plenty of HUs in the past. Pioneer and Kenwoods always had issues. I got a Pioneer in my fiancees Legend, it sticks sometimes and won't eject the CD out of the unit- non CD-R discs, but original record label ones. That Pioneer is about year and half old.... its a cheap one, and it feels cheap when U even crank the volume up.

Alpine FTW.
I've still got a a perfectly functional alpine that's older than some of the maxs on here.
if it had a remote it would be the HU in my max

How much for it?

750 for it all. Considering that it has full warranty and I've only had it for a week- head unit only. There is a picture of just the HU in the pictures forum where I posted some recent shots of my car. This unit goes for 500-600 bux on Ebay with no warranty from Alpine, another 250-300 bux for the expanssion box and 100 for the Sirrius Connect.

I had a pull out Alpine CD deck in my 90 Max SE 5spd, the date under the chassis said July 1990- made in Japan. It never skipped a beat and rocked pretty good through the stock BOSE speakers- the radio was hooked up to work through the OEM radio. Looked kinda funky having 2 radios in the car, but whoever installed it.... made it work. Nowa days you have PAC adapters etc to make HUs work with BOSE by just plugging and playing.

I just replaced the speakers, the PAC adapter is too much
of course this I30 of mine has a nice funtional BOSE in it.
doesn't sound bad either
