5th gen trims and what is included

like on the org in the 4th gen forum there is a break down of what each trim level has and doesn't and what are some options. I was looking to buy a 5.5gen and i saw that in many cases all the trims came with fogs. some didn't but still.

I know the 03 has the TE edition but aside from that. I know HID are all standard. on the 02-03's. It shows that the gxe/gle still has the chrome trims and the SE has the body matched.

The LSD is that just an option or is it packaged with something esle and is it only on the 6 speed or with the auto as well.

can i add on ot this? how can i tell if a fif gen is 6spd or 5spd? Like when I am looking online... and it is only advertised as manual...

uhhh, only 2002-2003 were 6spd.

k, thanks... all along, i thought they were an option on 5th gens... so those (the 6spd) is what is refered to as 5.5 gen?

no, that's a 5th gen with a 5.4L swap from the Titan.

but yea back to my orginal question. I'm trying to pick up some key things here so i can shop for my 5.5 gen correctly. I haven't seen a 5.5 with the HLSD and a auto yet.

umm gxes didn't come with fogs. And all models have chrome window trim.

GXE doesn't come with Bose, no auto climate control, no fogs. It does have chrome door handles chrome door, and steelies. This goes for all 5th gens. 02-03 comes standard with HID, and steelies, although there's a small number that have the 16 GLE rims.

The SE can come with a variety of packages, because most of them are options. The SE can come witht the Titanium rims(very few though). Fogs, wing, and some have auto climate control. It also comes in Auto, 5 speed for 01-02, and 6 speed for 02-03. 6 Speed doesn't guarantee HLSD. If I remember right Tom's car is a GXE with a 6sp HLSD. So it can get really tricky witht the 5th gens. Too many people mixed and matched options.....

Also the 02-03 gxes were equipped with cloth seats, not the sport cloth seats on SEs, and couldn't have leather

5th gen - blanket term for maxima after 4th gen, and before 6th. 5.5 gen = 2002-2003, because it got a new grille and a VQ35. basically engine made it a new car. 6 speed was only with the 3.5l. 5th gen (2000-2001) came with the VQ30DE-K, which was basically a revised 4th gen engine, with a VI (00vi.) Only problem was, the DEK was a good 4th gen engine, but most drivers found it lacking in the quickly changing automotive world. So Nissan decided to throw the new uber engine in there, and WALLA (i know its voila but who cares), the 3.5 takes off, the 5.5 gen is the best maxima ever besides 4th gen, and nissan sells their asses off, while making a name for the VQ, adding to tits years on the 10 best engine's list.

And i would laugh at andy's pics of his alty with a giant engine trying to get it shoehorned into his car, having it resting on the rad support and realizing he isnt RWD, then swearing a lot.

update on the project: stock altima engine is out of the car, titan engine is in the engine bay but still on a cherry picker so that i can find good mounting points.

I think nissan made the dek only cause they made the 5th gen heavy and had to add power kist to make it as fast as the 4th gen.

i don't have enough room to run the pipes down... they are going out of the hood like an old school muscle car... also, i imported a bluebird drivetrain to make my car awd :D
