Well I guess since none of you decided to take charge on planning this event. I guess I will take charge. Cuz I really wanted to go to one of these in the past but with the schedule and distance, I was unable to go. I will definantly need someone that has connections to a trophy store for the carshow event. Dragracing and locations for people to stay should be no problem. Or if anyone has connections to a very large parkinglot with near by places to eat or BBQ let me know. Busse Woods won't cut it, considering how much traffic goes thru there. I will try to post new info as I come along. Mod's if you can, make a new section for the Maxus, and maybe give me mod capabilities for that section thanks.

if you decide to use Joliet , they will be willing to rent out the place for the weekend probably.
They do it for the Super Chevy Show.
that would give you track space and show space.

I can arrange a dyno if we want that ?

Mr Grey
06-27-2006, 12:22 PM
Most of the time for Maxus they set up a dyno day/ BBQ day, and track/race course day...or a combination of it. I guess i will try driving around this weekend to see where we can fit that many cars with little traffic. Dyno would be fine Mike.

I also noticed that Dave & Busters in Addison is usually where lots of car meets happen....they have a big parking lot. We could probably roll from there to the track or have the car show there.......

Just_A_Wrx

Can I get in on the dyno and the track event even though im not a maxima?

Mr Grey
06-27-2006, 12:44 PM
I have neve been to a Maxus, but I'm sure other cars show too.....so you dod the math. i was thinking of just putting it out to all IL nissan/Infinitis.....again, just thinking.

Xmax
06-27-2006, 12:55 PM
Well depending on how many trophies we are talking about and what classes. For example with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
Best Maxima
Best 6th Gen
Best 5th Gen
Best 4th Gen
Best 3rd Gen
Best 1st and 2nd Gen.
Best other Nissan

I was thinking of having a mild and wild class of each, but that would be a lot of trophy's to purchase. I think $10 to enter should cover price of trophies or plaques. Since they average about anywhere between $5 to as much as $20 at most. But we will see who is definants of show so I know what classes to put out and what trophies to purchase.

Just_A_Wrx

I might have a hookup for trophies.
This guy will do graphics as well...banners, stickers, etc.....

I've been to the last 2 and it's been 99% Maxes and the rest I30/35. IMO it ought to stay that way. Having other Nissans and Infinitis there would certainly increase attendance, but I don't think everyone would 'mingle'. It would be like 3 or 4 national meets at the same place at the same time, everyone staying with their own 'group'.

You're right. i take it back now....i saw what they posted on the org. They're right. We do have enough Maximas to have a National Meet. The Z and SE-R guys do it. We can too.

Providing it's promoted well, we ought to have more than enough Maximas. Besides, if we have the Z's and Sentras there Dave won't attend.....:peepwall:

Well I might even get my dad to bring his 6th....That would be a fun road trip. 65 all the way with dad tailing me to make sure i didnt speed :(

He runs a bank though, and has every hookup imaginable, he could probably get some maxus pens made real cheap..... Handouts or something like that

I can probably secure us some tents so we could chill out without getting sunburned. I still wanna know when the whole event will take place..... I could call around and get some rates on rooms.

for the location bit, we may be able to just rent out an empty lot.
I.E. where Bell and Howell used to be by the lincolnwood town center.
they tore down the building and now it's just an empty lot up for sale / lease.
^^ that was just an example

which that lot actually does have.
food nearby?
Dominicks right behind it, wendys a bit north (4 blocks), Pizza hut and taco hell (4 blocks south), dunkin dognuts and Dominoes (4 blocks south 2 blocks east), whistlers (I think that's the name)4 blocks south,
2.5 miles off the 94.
Slum motels about 1 mile south.
Better hotels, about 1.5 mile away(just off the 94)
Loews is right around the corner (emergency BBQ, Charcoal and Propane)

Why not talk to some of the nissan performance shops (stillen, redline, custom enterprise, etc) and see if they want to sponsor? It would get their names out to more of their target market so i'm sure it would be desirable.

Fields Infiniti Glencoe may want to sponsor to get their name out there as an aftermarket parts vendor.:naughty:

I know they sponsored a G35/ Z meet about a month ago.

I was reading through a maxus thread on the org and Matt suggested setting up a not-for-profit corporation to handle the money, and be responsible for everything.
has anyone ever done anything like that before?
it is a VERY good idea IMO.

I think I said to get flyers out to the local nissan dealers by you to maybe hopefully get some donations for the maxus07. First of all we need to make flyers and then get a stack to give out to those that are participating to hand out to the local nissan, infiniti(I30 is kinda like maxima) dealers. Maybe dino's exhaust shop, cause they welded on many of our exhausts on. Maybe get a list of the shops that we can hand out to?

Flyers would work to get some sponsors, but another set of flyers when we do have sponsors, to put on the flyers itself, basically free advertising for them.

you set up the corporation and require all checks to have 2 or more signatures by the board members.
oh and being a not-for-profit requires the books be open to public inspection

Ic, it sounds easy. How do you go about starting one up? Maybe if you like you can volunteer to do the bookeeping part of Maxus. Cuz I'm not really good with numbers when it comes to buisness related. We prolly should talk more about Maxus finances at the Nissan meet if you could make it.

Brian

Weather will determine if I make it or not.
if it is storming I probably won't go this sunday.

I have no problem handling the bookeeping part, but one caveat, NO CASH.
I tend to lose cash :( or spend it

I'm willing to help in anyway I can.

Here is the response I received from Cattman Performance with regard to Maxus 2007.............

Hi Manny,

So, is this the new Chicago-area Maxima club I’ve heard about? I’ve seen a noticeable increase in our business from that area this year and would definitely like to have a relationship with you guys. We’re real tight with the NYCMaxima and Toronto guys too – there are so many people who are interacting constantly with each other in the urban areas. The big cities are our best markets because there are so many people who are interacting constantly with each other. When people can see, hear and drive our parts they sell themselves.

Looks like 20+ cars in the panorama shot you included, was that just a casual spur-of-the-moment sort of deal? [From what I hear that’s about all that showed up for Maxus this year in Dallas.] No question that we’d have an interest in any major event you guys do. You’ll want to press your case as a site for Maxus 07 right away; there may be competing concepts out there already. I’m not sure that the “national” meet concept is viable anymore; the continent is just too big, but I don’t doubt that you could have a credible event in the Chicago area. Maxus 99 may have been the only time that people literally came from everywhere for a Maxima meet.

I expect to get the first set of headers – to try on my car for fitment confirmation – late this week or early next. Barring unforeseen issues, we can go straight into production. I’m determined to start filling backorders before the end of this month.

Lets stay in touch regarding the development of the Chicago Maxima club, I want to be a supporter from the start.

So I had Brian Catts from Cattman performance setup a username on the board so that we can talk to him directly. He is very interested in sponsoring the site and here is the email I received from him the other day......

Hi Manny,
Sorry its taken a few days to get back to you. I’d be very interested in sponsoring Chicago club site and I think you’ll find that we’re a little easier to deal with than Redline. I’d like to discuss price, plans for the club, and a few other details, can you shoot me your phone #?

BTW, I just registered on the site. I’d note that when I added “Manny Guzman” as the referrer, it would not accept it. Finally had to leave that spot blank.

Brian C Catts
Cattman Performance

I am not at liberty to handle such questions about the board but if you guys that are senior members would care to answer, his username Cattman.

-Thanks guys.....I hope this is a positive step toward the goals and direction of the board.

That's good to know guys. If I have time I am going to take a drive to P&L motorsports soon to see if they are willing to sponsor our event in their parkinglot or somewhere else near there so we can have the dyno day the same day.
