Xander, what bout that one place off Golf Rd going WEST on Golf past Barrington Rd ? It looks like there is enough room there to fit alot of cars.
BTW looking from the pics of the last Maxus I didnt see more than maybe 15 cars there. Is that how big these things get or what ?

can we borrow the allstate arena lot or anything like that? or will that be too expensive? it is pretty convenient... with the highway and hotels beign close by.. and i don't seem to recall a place off of golf west of barrington that's big enough to hold that many cars and i live aruond there... there's a place off of barrington that's decent.. but i dun think that's even big enough.(right by the hospital).. if i think of any other places in the suburbs, i'll let y ou know.

Im thinking anything that deals with some type of convention center will most definantly be expesive. Car dealerships, shops, restaurants, parks would be preferable. Parking would be free, compared to probably paying the convention center to use their parking lot.

there is a place right near NIU hoffman estates that is ALWAYS empty except one day a week. It's right off I90 by the beverly road exit. Plus you have the SEARS business bs there which is also closed on weekends.

I think we can reserve most of the area...I'm not quite sure how much it will cost, but I guess I can double check. After all, this is about a year away.

I exactly know what area you are talking about, thats where I used to work and hoping to go back at, CEC's parking lot. That is a nice area, but im gonna have to talk to them and see what I could do. But one only draw back is that the building is in use during the weekends as well so they will still be using the parking lot for their use.

i think busse woods would be the best place because of its location. It's not far from the city, there's a lot of hotels/motels/inns nearby and we can bbq and it's close to the major highways that'll take anyone anywhere. but as i said, if i spot anywhere else while driving, i'll let xander know. i know Target(s) have HUGE lots but they're really picky about who camps out there...

Either way, you're better off inflating the number instead of needing more of anything......everythihng within a resonable number.

No big store is going to allow for a car meet, same thing goes for a highschool.... I think we are stuck with Bussy Woods.
I COULD ask about getting some room at my dealership but its a ACURA dealership and I really DOUBT they would allow 200 Nissans to show up. Woodfield Nissan has no room for 200 cars eighter.
I think ideal spot would be some kinda forest preserve. Xander you need to check out that spot on Golf Rd between like RT59 and Barrington Rd. I think it would be a great spot, as there is enough room for cars there and you do not have to drive 20MPH for 10 min like we always have to do through Bussy Woods.
If we need to pitch in some $$$ for a spot, I will gladly throw down some $$$. I need one of them "I support Chicago Maxima Club" whatchama-call-its under my screen name.

I'll definantly take a look at that area. But on my way home from work today, I just realized that there is a huge gynormus parkinglot at the Schaumburg Flyers Stadium. It would be perfect but it is a private property and there is really no washrooms near by and places to BBQ and such. But I will definantly look into that forest preserve by Barrington and Busse Woods.

No I90 is under construction from I294 to past the toll booths- due to the open road tolling they are trying to make. Its like that in both directions. You can get there taking 94 to Lake Cook Rd and then take the streets.

why don't we first figure out what track(s) we are going to use, then we can plan from there.
if we use the track in joliet, finding a Dealer in rockford would be assinine.
we need to come up with a more logical set of progressive steps to get it all figured out.
my thinking
1. track
2. Meet site
3. SPONSORS (dealers, Speed shops {I'll ask kaotic once we get more plans laid in} magazinesetc..)
4. Lodging, Airlines (not everyone will drive in I'm assuming)
If someone reminds me in october and we have some serious plans in play I WILL talk to the big companies at SEMA about some sponsorship
anyone see a flaw in that progression chart?

I believe airtravel or any other type of traveling to Chicago is up to them, but getting picked up from the airport or trainstation is something different, it is something we could take care of. I think the lot is in Countryside, I think the lot is owned by the mall that is right next door to Countryside Nissan. But I don't think anyone lives in Countryside thats on here, I know Paulo lives in Westernsprings. But Countryside Nissan may provide the permit for us. it's only perfect if we find a road course within an hour of it.
At the meet Sunday me, Greg, Hector, and some other guys were thinking about having the meet at P&L motorsports, its near the corner of Irving Park and Mannheim Road. But not only having the meet, but having the dyno day the same day. According to Mike or was it Greg said that there is a large parkinglot across the street from P&L. You will not find a affordable road course within a hour of Chicago. Only one would be AutoBahn, but I don't think we have the $$$ to get it for a day. Last I heard SE-R convetion was going to be held there till they found out how much the track was..... you can buy a nice condo for that $$$.
Black Hawk Farms is the only affordable place in this area, unless we can somehow get Chicago Motor Speedway..... they do Quattro events there and set up the in-field into a buncha twisties and turns, then use the oval as the straightaway. I did tech inspections and tech work for Audi SPORT team about 5 years ago there, it was a nice track- with very little danger as far as runing into things.

CMS is a lot closer to our other 2 spots than Blackhawk is. CMS also has a dragstrip, no?
Chicago Motor Speedway doesn't have a dragstrip unfortunantly. Its located in the heart of Cicero, it was suppose to be a Indy raceway, but the same people the was for it now complained about the noise polution it had when the had a race out there a few years ago. You were probably were mixing it up with Chicagoland Speedway, thats the one that is next to Route 66 Dragway.

I can probably get a frequent renters discount at like halls or someplace like that.
we need to find out how many people are coming so we can plan this right.
50 people is easy
200 not so easy

Yeah, true dat, I guess we will have to make sure that if this is the location then we prolly could look into getting a tent.

I wanna say yes and no, cuz we could try to get a restaurant to sponsor us to get some free food, but of course they can only bring so much.
I kind of expected that answer.
I wish there was a way to get a head count :(
if food was included I could see charging x amount to attend which would help defray the food costs and help weed out the not so serious people.

great we got food!! Now where is it going to be located?
I went to Carol Stream's Village hall to see how much it will cost to reserve and rent out the "Town Center."
Note this is the pricing for this year, it may go up next year. But this includes the use of the large tent, which is appoximatly 40 ft in length and appoximatly 20ft in width, and about 20 feet high.
A minumum of 4hrs of use - $500
For each additional hour - $75
Refunable deposit to reserve the date and location - $150.
Garbage cans are provided, but we have to do all the cleaning after the event. For vendors and sponsors to setup is questionable, the village is not sure if they can approve them to set up their stands. Hopefully the vendors and sponsors can reduce us spending money to reserve this particular location.
Hampre Park which is across the street can't be reserved till April 1st, but I will try to get a ball park of how much it will cost to reserve that location which is right across from the "Town Center." But I'm going to have to talk to the Park District instead since the park district owns that land, not the village hall.

do they gaurantee all the parking spots to us?
do they gaurantee all the parking spots to us?
I am pretty sure they can reserve most if not all parking spots, but i depends on how many people are coming and how many spots vendors and sponsors would take up as well.

This is an idea given by Ken (kcf881). Autobahn Country Club rents out your choice of the North, South or Full sections. I think it will be hard to get the track for that weekend, though it wont hurt to inquire. There are alot of hotel choices in that area also. It would be somewhat of a cruise to Joliet. *autobahncountryclub.net*
-Thanks Ken

SO is this going to be held by the Quarry or not? I just saw this thread I live right down the road from there also!

I know high schools are an unlikely choice, but what about the parking lot at the new South Elgin High School. Thats a pretty big lot.
Or what about in the lot at AMC 30 on barrington rd by I90? That lot is huge too. Or Willow Creek further north on algonquin? haha

I can talk to someone in management if you guys would like? And i know someone in the malls marketing dept, so im sure theyd be able to help with promotions as well.

We thought about those locations but they are in buffu land. But those would be perfect locations parkinglot wise but the ammenities for people are not so swell unfortunantly.

Right on ! Now we just need that purposal letter so we can start whorn up sponsorships !
Xander maybe the SE-R guys from www.sr20forum.com are still looking for a track- I am not sure as I very rarely go on there anymore.... if they could have a track day one day and we could the other, it could be a Nissan Race Weekend at BlackHawk. It would attract alot of attention I suppose........ just thinking outloud.

Nice work for the track, Xander!
Mike is right....we need a sponsor(s) real soon. Without that, it will be a lot harder to get things going and paid for. And a sponsor will mean MAXUS will really happen....probably increase interest on the org about attendance.

Awesome, Ill go and proof read it see if any changes needed to be made, and I'll try to also edit it to taylor it for each specific company/willing sponsor. But I'm going to write one up as well and maybe comprimise (sp?) Of what I put in and what Eric wrote up or all of what Eric wrote if his sounds better.
