View Full Version : We need committees

I was looking through all the maxus 07 and we don't have committees. Everyone is all over the place. So far I know that Xander is in charge of this whole thing, planning wise. But who is going to do what? Someone can organize the food and where we ar going to get the food from and how. Someone else can organize where the location is. Someone else can go and get sponsers.

so we need committees for.
-organizing food
-organizing advertisment/flyers
-People to talk to, who can sponser us
-organizing location
-organizing hotels and where people can stay
-etc.

I can't see Xander doing everything, it must be a overload on him, so we all have to help him out. And we do live in Chicago Land area, not just him.

I was thinking of that its just a matter of getting people to join the comittee. But I think that for those that are on the committee, must be able to make the monthly or bimonthly meeting I am about to announce soon, once we get people voluteering for a paticular responsibility. The meeting location will be rotational unless we choose a set location for our monthly or bimonthly meeting. Good thinking Toshi that you brought it up, or else by the time I would of brought it up it would've been to late.

I'll take control on the committee and how they are updating.

So basically I want to receive information how the committees are doing everytime they meet. And I like doing everything so I'll like give ideas in and what ever else that happens.

What day do you people prefer for a monthyly or biweekly committe meeting? Every other Sunday late afternoon if its Biweekly, or lets say every second Sunday of the month. My guess is for now its going to be the second Sunday of every month. But when we a few months before the actually meet it can be anywhere between every other Sunday to every Sunday. The reason for it being Sunday is cuz most of us has plans on Saturday night. And of course other days people work. But I still want other people that live far be part of the committee too. They just have to communicate thru here or by phone. Of course I will be lead of the commitee, and everyone will just report during the meetings what they have comeup of whatever design, food, etc. So in this case since we past the second Sunday of this month the first committee meeting will be on August 13th. I choose this date as the first since we will have a hard time choosing and we could spend weeks trying to pick a day, but at the meeting we can decide from there when too meet up. The location is going to be at the Starbucks Streets of Woodfield at appox 8pm. I find this location to be ideal since its cetralized location for all of us. Unless you guys have a better sugestion whcih I am definantly open to. For those that want to be on the commitee you must attend this meeting, people that have more than 1hr drive is excempt from this meeting that want to be part of it. From there we will choose what jobs people will volunteer for. Of course there will be a day where you absolutly can't make it, if so just let us know by putting info in the log books thread. I will post one up after the first meeting we have. So I hope to see you guys at the first committee meeting at Starbucks on the 13th of Sunday in August.

The meeting idea sounds good for committee, every sunday night at 8ish? when school starts less people will be able to show up cause it's a sunday night and some of us have to do homework to going back to the dorms.

every other sunday toshi. every sunday is still over doing it for now... i think when the event date is a bit closer but for now, i think even every three sundays for the next couple of months is ok.

I don't think I will be able to make half of the meetings cause I have to be in a dorm..... I would like to be in a committee.

Well Toshi I understand that you are in school, I plan on having it once a month for now, but we will discuss this matter at the first meeting.

Brian

you could always have the meetings on an IM chat room for those that need to be in dorm rooms

sorry I hate using AIM, 2 years of using that program started to piss me off. That noise you get when you recieve a message or a reply. GOD I HATE THAT NOISE!!!

But to xander I'll try to make it to the first one, from then on I don't know what will happen to me.

that's a good idea and all but as my bro said, that AIM program pisses me off. i get bombarded with so many IMs from people i've been avoiding on there...

if we meet up once a month until we're closer to that big day, to keep up with what's going on and email the ones that couldn't make it to the meeting, i think we should be good.

Having the meetings in person will keep things more organized anyway.. IMO..

turn off the noise then
Setup -> Preferences -> IM/ Chat/Mobile -> IM window -> Sounds -> For Buddies on my Buddy list (Drop down menu) slect "do not play any sounds"
AND Outgoing IM Sounds uncheck "Play A Sound on this computer When sending a message"

then you can have silence.

Toshi, well if anything, I could set my phone or im pretty sure anyone's phone to speaker phone and we could communicate that way during the meeting if you can't make it. Don't worry prolly for the next few months it will prolly be once a month deal.

I will help out with whatever necessary. I am currently working on a powerpoint presentation that will help us to sell Maxus to dealerships and speedshops. If anyone is interested in contributing to it, send me a pm with your email address so that I can send you a copy. It consists of four slides so far.

okie dokie... i'll get some feedback for ya sometime...

Kowalski
07-30-2006, 08:08 PM
suggestions:

powerpoints are meant to show general ideas while you present the speach in person, it looks informal to read word for word off slides... basically, turn the slides into general bullet points and print what you wrote out to make a speech with...

slide 3 should be something spoken, a slide is not necessary...

the sign-up should be optionally presented, like print that list every time you get a sponsor, and show it to the company if they ask for it...

these are just suggestions... (i took a class in college on how to propose speeches and i've been doing powerpoints since i started high school...)

very nice work with the pictures!

Feel free to change it up. I just wanted to get the ball rolling. I'm sure we can put together something great collectively. When you change it send it back to me so that I have a copy to work off of.

This should help to inspire us all. I wrote Cattman again regarding sponsorship and got some interesting news. I think we should look into this right away.

Hey Manny,

Yeah, believe me, you’ll need the entire year if you do it right. Have you heard from other groups that might be planning “competing” events? I know that Corey at Redline was thinking about doing something in West Virginia (I recall something about being near a Native American casino and possible a track of some kind). Unless he’s able to tap into a LOT of local or regional volunteer support I’d have to be a bit dubious about pulling it off. Nobody can afford to hire event planners for this sort of thing, so the successful events have to depend on a local enthusiast group organizing well and doing the hard work. The (complete) lack of that local support is what doomed the last two Maxus events in Dallas (a friggin’ hellhole of a place in the summer:dry:

Manny if you have a laptop or Andy if you have a laptop, can one you bring the presentation so one of you can show the presentation at the meeting. I would love to take a look at it now, but I don't have Microsoft Office installed on my computer.

No one as of right now, the first meeting will determine who is on the committee for the Chicagoland area. Basically if you can make it to the first few meetings then it shows your dedicationship to be part of the committee.

I'm willing to help out but can't make the meetings. But being on the org a lot I can help promote it there. Also, after the first few meetings get things rolling I may be able to provide some help.

Anyone that is on this site needs to register on the org. You guys should have this convo on the org. Tom is right, more people know about the org....people are just learning about this site. this site can be used to work out the tiny details, but progress reports need to be posted on the org, at least twice a week. I know this is just the beginning, but it needs to be posted like in the general forum of the org, and not just the upper midwest forum.

On the org there is a thread about Maxus 2007.

General Maxima Discussion/Maxus

A new thread ought to be started there after the first comittee meeting so everyone else knows what's happening.

And like F5 said, everyonh here ought to register on the org if you haven't already. Local supprt will make or break this event.
