So I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a PC or a rotary to enhance my detailing. Are machines used just for polishing (in my case, ZPC) or are they also used to waxes/sealants (Z2/Z5)?

I usually do the polishing with the machine. The waxes most of the time I add them by hand. I have been experimenting on adding wax with a finishing pad to make the process go quicker....however, i'm still sealing it by hand.

My PC was the best detailing investment I have made. I use it for most things. The only stuff I do by hand is claying and applying and removing carnuba wax. After 2+ years with the PC I got brave enough to buy a rotary. With a little practice I've learned to use it very well.

I'd recommend getting the PC. You won't regret it and your results will be all the more spectacular.

Any particular machine I should be looking at?

I'm considering picking up the following:

PC7424 Sonus SFX Polisher kit (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-sfxpol-kit.html)
Sonus SwirlBuster Polish (http://store.yahoo.com/autopia/son-450.html)
Sonus DAS Buffing Bonnet (to have a few extra (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-dasbon6-2.html)
Sonus Complete Detailing Kit (I need MF towels) (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-towel-kit.html)

Am I missing anything?

For swirl removal i would use Poor Boys..good product, and cheaper too. I don't really think you need bonnets for removing stugg. Although if you want to try it...Ithink i have one lying at home. To remove the wax/polish just use microfibers. What do you use to dry the car though?

100% cotton MF towels to dry
