Hey. i was going back home from Buffalo Grove and i stopped on the red light, and some stupid kid, probally on his perents cadilac. i think it was like 96 - 97, 32V dont remember the name. so he looks at me, and thinks that i will start off like crazy, which i didn't becasue it was pointless and dump. So he takes off with burnout and that thing took off SOO fast. it seemed like it had 400hp. man, and my 1st though yea this guy is lucky on gas. :wall:

The northstar engine is capable of some good power.
Dont underestimate some of the cadillacs out there, especially the new ones.
Too bad they go to shit after like 40k miles. People talk about oil problems in the 3.5L Nissan motors, northstar engines start using oil like crazy early on.

ya, you drive off the GM dealer lot and your car is a quart short. it kind of pointless to get a american car.

that northstar engine burns oil like a mofo. One of the lube tells me that it burning like a quart every 2 thousand miles or so. Cadallic are a piece of shit car....seems like every new cadallic comes in for service. this lady came in with a car she bought for and she only has 18K on it since she bought it 5 years ago and she already spend 18K fixing it....other then that...they have such a smooth ride. oh yeah, also consider the fact that they take up to 8-12 quarts of oil...oil changes will be alot of money

I heard the new cts is no good.
Lots of problems after only 20k miles or so.
GM still cant get their shit straight I see.

So you got dusted by a Cadillac ? No supprise here.
GM can't build a good DOHC motor- their 3.0L V6 Catera which was actually a Opel motor blew head gaskets. Early Northstars did the same thing, but the 1st generation Aurora with 4.0L Northstar was actually a pretty good car. I won't even start on the Type X motor - 3.4L DOHC V6.
Now CTS-V is one bad ass ride, LS6 motor pnwns - or any pushrod GM motor nowa days actually.

The cts-v has the ls6, but the regular cts doesnt.
The motor is good, but everything else built around it is typical domestic shit.

the thing that gets me is that old people buy these cars then complain all the time that it keeps on breaking down on them and then they go and buy another cadallic...but all these old people tell me they like the ride that's why they buy it.

I had two friends that both had cadillac devilles or witch ever ones the sportie one. They both had problem with those pieces of shits, and neither one of them drove like psychos. They blew head gaskets had starter problems, alternator. One bought a lexus is300 later and the other a 2000 max. The one that got the max when he traded in the cadi stuffed a rag where the head gasket goes so it did leak oil at the trade in

My friend has a 96 32V STS... the ride is smooth as hell, but that's where the good news ends. He's had a few problems with the car since he's bought it, sunroof motor, dipstick, trunk release, radio knobs cracking, etc..
We raced a few times when I had my 4.5 gen... tore him a new one!

man those new STS are nice as hell...too bad it's a piece of shit...people come back for some of the most stupid shit to get fixed. most of these problems are just the same ones over and over again, like alternator and head gasket and crap like that. New cars keep on coming in for warrenty work every day.

i know what your saying. same shit happens to nissans, except...we get new cars with blown cvt transmissions, trucks with broken front diffs, sentras with trans mission shifting problems, alternators that blow on 05-06 muranos, seatbelt recalls on 07 maximas......ya, nissan get alot of warranty work, it just horrible.

just wait till your subframe cracks, or your alternater shits out on you, or your headlights burn out randomly. trust me, unfortunately it will happen. maybey not all at once, but from what i have seen, it will happen. it sucks, but what u gonna do, buy a new model, with more problems.

you can say that because you work there
if you worked for honda or toyota or ford or whatever, you would know all the inside dirt on them...

QFT, my mom's GMC full size conversion van was 1 shop visit away from being declared a lemon... it has been running fine since, except for a tranny problem that wouldn't allow the car to get in any gear except 1st...
