View Full Version : 95 5spd vs 1999 Mustang
So a week or so along my friend setted up a race for me with a 1999 Mustang V6 35th anniversary edition [auto]. 190 HP.* He was like, "dude... your going to get smoked." So we went to this drag strip that we always go to. It's around a 1/4 mile. No cars no people. Damn floor was wet [had no traction throughout 1st and 2nd] so I lost to him the 1st 3 rounds. He got all cocky and started making fun of my car. On the last and final race that determined the winner. I launched at idle and smoked his ass by 2-3 car lengths. After that, not a single word was said. I think I need to stop this racing habit. Racing should only be for the track :).
EDIT: 190 HP

Sorry but there is no such thing as a 1999 230hp v6 35th year anniversary mustang. The 35th year mustang is just a GT with exterior and interior differences that were otherwise not available on other 99 mustangs. Meaning it's a 260hp/302tq V8, not a V6. It only came in red, black, white, or silver

Mustangs... what a sad challenge. I lined up next to a ~2002 GT 5-speed once, kid had some loud-azz pipes on it, and he barely got past me as we hit about 100 mph. In his defense, he had 4 people in the car, I had 2. But still, a Mustang should already weigh significantly less than a Maxima.

a 2002 gt is 3200+, so it's not lighter than a max.
lol wow. The guy was like "I have 230 Horses. This is a special 35th anny edition and is faster then the other ones."
yeah, when he told me to race him, i knew i was going to smoke him.
"Mustang’s engine has been optimized in order to obtain greater horsepower and improve its performance. At 190 horsepower, its V-6 engine got a boost of 40 hp. The V-8’s horsepower has been increased by 35 to 260 hp."

wow, so it's ugly, can't possibly move in the snow, has the worst interior ergonomics I've ever experienced AND it's heavy as hell??? Those Mustangs truly are the epitome of horrible.
My neighbor's wife has a ~2003 V6 automatic Mustang. Every now and then someone (who has no clue) will start talking about it like it's really somethin'. I just laugh, knowing my 4-door family car would make it look reaaaaal silly in a race. Hell, my Caravan almost would too.

Actually I think it's only 14.6 in the quarter mile or so. Stock for stock a 2k2 6spd max would be about even with it, but most likley faster.

That's not cool, the power is getting to your head. I think you need a 2 year ban.
