New to Chicago Maxima

I found this forum through the org. I just bought a 2002 Maxima last year. It has been a huge blast so far to drive this car. So far it's stock except for tints and an aftermarket headunit, but I plan to mod a little more.


I have some questions though:

1). I need to get the 60k service done and being a student I neither have the time nor the knowledge to do this myself. Do you guys recommend going to a Nissan Dealer? Or are their any reputable Nissan mechanics in the area who could do this? The dealers around Evanston want an arm and a leg for this service.

2). After researching the org, I found that my car is experiencing the blown MAF symptoms and I have intermittent codes. Is there anyone who would be willing to install a 2k Max MAF with the necessary wire? Or could somone explain what I have to do to make a 2k MAF work witht the 2k2.

hey welcome to the board

1) you should change out your spark plugs, check all belts, flush tranny fluid, oil change, filter change, fuel filter, flush your fluid. All of this can be done by youself...don't go to nissan.

2) get the 2001 maf cheaper, extra bit of work though.

The problem with me doing my own 60k service, is that I don't have the proper tools and I live in an apartment building, so things like flushing the tranny and stuff would not be a good idea. Plus it's not something as easy as a headunit. So I dont wanna f**k up my car.

look around the org for a maf and theyre really easy to replace, pretty much just 4 bolts...all u need is a socket wrench

i think the hardest part would be changing the spark plug, you gotta take apart your manifold i believe in order to reach the 3 spark plugs in the back. I do all my flushing and oil changes on the street.......well it's kinda a street. just check to sell if the belts are cracking if not then it's fine....i ususally put some dressing on my belts from time to time for the heck of it.

Ok im just throwing this out but when i do my swap you are welcome to come to my house and we can help you do some of this stuff at my house. Once i have all the parts for it i will start a thread and who ever gets in on it that comes here will help you with your car, also you will get a chance to meet some members okay. So just wait like a month and you'll save yourself some money by not going to the dealership aka SATAN, STEALERSHIP. Just get all the stuff you want to change out, fluids, etc etc. OKAY

regarding your maf....the 2k2 is the weakest maf out of the 5th and 5.5 gen. they stop making it totally...there's the 5th gen and the 03 ones. the 03 will run you about 300 bucks, just get a 01 for about 80 bucks and you just have to move the temperature sensor from your maf to the new one and it'll look just fine.

Im dropping in a 5spd and maybe headers at the same time we will see:) :) :) fckn autotragic pisses me off can down shift or hold at high rpms for that punch parts are comeing in slowly, im not in a rush to do this so when everything is here and complete i will tell you guys when and where and you're all invited as with all swaps, well maybe not Dave butt sssshhh dont tell him ok. lol j/k

I know, I was just trying to cause drama and make people think we have a feud going. Then one day the feud would peak and we would schedul a fight to the death in a barb wire octagon ring. I'm waiting for parts on Rob- aka Ketchup01SE on this forum, transmission. I need to rebuild it for him and then we can put that into his car.

6spd I did was for a certain Polak who has a 00 Auto and wanted a 6spd really bad... is that what you where talking bout ? I started the project, got it bout 99% done, if you need more info why I didn't finish it- PM me anyone. I don't feel like telling the whole forum why it never got finished by me, althou it was because of me the car finally got done- as I told my friend how to finish it.
