drilled are ok. slotted are not. the slots will wear your break pads down quicker.

you got it backwards quik. Slotted are just fine, drilled are overkill since you'll never get them or the pads hot enough to get them to their full potential...

lemme add on a question to this: what are zinc plated rotors for?

prevent rusting

so drilled is ok, but just unnecessary?

prevent rusting
sort of. They only prevent the rust on the places the brake pads DON'T EVER COME IN CONTACT WITH. So, only the hub area...

really? interesting. i can understand not getting the the pads hot enough, but i thought the slots on the slotted rotors cut into the pads more?

of course, that's the point of them. They bite into the pads better giving better stopping power...

well, technically, if you do enough driving with zinc plates, doesn't that mean that there will be no rust...

yeah, but that will happen with non zinc plated rotors as well. Many think they rotors will never rust anywhere when it's zinc plated...

so do you think its even worth getting slotted rotors? or are you better of just getting normal after market rotors?

I might get slotted next cause they aren't that much more expensive...

so the rotors would be 220ish shipped for all 4, think its worth it?

you can find them cheaper. all depends on where you go. i found some that seem decent. you can choose whether or not you want slotted, drilled, slotted/drilled. shipped for 180.

why? I've had a set of ~$100, all 4, no name rotors on my car since 2003, they work just fine and I'm still alive...

The Brembo rotors on ebay are simply stock replacement rotors that are later drilled and/or slotted.
I spoke with a Brembo rep who said that all Brembo sport rotors are directional based on the inside vanes. I bought a set of the ebay Brembos, they are not directional.
Other info I got from the rep.
Slotted rotors are a great upgrade for the street. The expel the gases that are created by the pads, thereby increasing braking force. They do wear brake pads more quickly, but probably not enough to really be a concern. You will probably get 1000-2000 less miles from a set, to me that is nothing considering most pads are good for about 50-60,000 miles.
drilled rotors are best left to true track cars, unless you want the look for show. The cross-drilling is meant to help cooling of the rotor. street rotors do not get hot enough for this effect to be noticeable. Also, he says, If the drilled holes are not done properly (too quickly drilled, dull bit, not chamfered) the rotor will become more prone to cracking.
Personally, I bought a set of the ebay cross-drilled/slotted rotors. The holes are chamfered, the quality was nice (by my untrained eye) and I am very happy with them. I did not notice that much difference on the street, but on the track I noticed much less brake fade over time. I say buy them, but also get some very high quality pads. I tried Axxis' kevlar/ceramics and was not impressed. I then tried Satisfieds' carbon/ceramics and am very happy. I have also heard good about Hawk.

I got my Brembo rotors bout a year ago from ebay (drilled/slotted) and im really happy with them. Also im using HAWK HPS pads and they been good. On steet there is not that much diffrence but when it cames to HWY and track its noticeable.

well, i had slotted on my car for about a year, and i finally changed them out and went back to stock. they were the brembo slotted ones, but i didnt order on ebay, i ordered through the brembo catalogue at murrays. anyway, i had to panic stop on the highway once, and they totally got warped like crazy.
you know how you feel your pedal pulsating on stock rotors, this was ten times worse, just braking at slow speed....i have andy as a witness when we were driving to daves house he saw how bad they sounded and shook the car.
anyway, ill probably get slotted rotors on my next car, but im gonnna have to be carefull, they are not entirely made for panic stops.

that's not warping. You just have brake pad material stuck in some places causing the shaking...

hmmmmmmmm, soooo what paul described.... I have the same problem, the pedal and whole car pulsates while the pedal is held with the same pressure....can I just get them milled down(if within spec) and everything *SHOULD* be good?
