Max vs 95/96 240 sx

Last night, around 10:30 Pm , i was on cumberland and irving park heading south. Black 240 sx with exhaust, 300zx brakes, 5spd pulls up. 1st gear he gets owned, 2nd gear , dead even , i hear his turbo spooling loud, 3rd gear he pulls on me about a car and a half and we shut it down. Discuss.

Im sorry I dont drive a well built Maxima ;)..... and no, I am not an idiot.... and I dont drive a riced out 240sx, nor do I jump on bandwagons and swap in an SR20DET because I saw it in a car magazine.

240SX abilites??? First off, why the hostility towards the maximas smaller cousin? Why the prejudice against the driver.... dont judge unless ye be judged. And what do you know about me or my 240SX to make such a judgement? Just because all the ricers and "drifter" wananbes are going around buying 240SXs doesnt mean jack shit. I had the 240SX way before anyone even mentioned drifting. I have people to vouche for that....

Being a college student I dont have large budget, but I have been piecing together this KA-T setup for over a year working slowly to ensure a good setup.

The turbo sounds loud, but what your referring to as the loud spool was actually my external wastegate kicking in at 5psi (preinstalled spring). I have to run a low boost setup until I upgrade my fuel management. Good run :thumbsup: its been a while since Ive raced.

My setup is the following:

KA-T kit @ 5 psi ~ running rich
External wastegate ( Tial 38mm )
FMIC
Full 3" Exhaust w/resonator + muffler
50lb top feed injectors w/ top feed fuel rail (generic) AFPR
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
SAFCII for tunning
O.E.M flywheel
O.E.M replacement clutch
Z32 Front Brake Upgrade
KYB AGX w/ Eibach Sportline Springs


Full Weight SE coupe w/ leather ~ 2830 + 190lb driver

When I was out looking for a car I wanted an non OBDII vehicle... and the 95 S14 was my only option. For right now i'm not too concerned with the looks, body is a bit beat up, a few rust spots etc. <=== [ its nice to have neighbors that back into your car when you park in on the street for 2 months while your on vacation and come back to find all sorts of new scratches on your bumper ] if I ever have extra cash Im going to upgrade my wheels and possibly upgrade the front, but I like the zenki front end just as much as all the other front ends.

cool, my car is acting up on me a little as well, my tranny mount is not holding tight causing engine and whole drivetrain to shake. Ohh well. Once i heared the turbo, i was like ohh shit.

sry i was mistaken and i misread..i thought u said u had the SR20DE, not the KA24DE...but either way...i cant vouch for what mike knows about those engines..but its sure its prob alot as he just knows alot about nissans in general

I had a feeling your car had something done to it... any idea where its @ quarter wise??? I have yet to make an appearance at the track... stock 240SXs run low 16s, high 15s with good driver and 2 bolt ons. I have no clue where my car is at......

ive seen plenty of those.... especially the wonderful rice editions with giant wings and "JDM tyte" stickers... :sleep: and I love the comments from high school kids: " is that an SR20DET???? " < - - im not knockin on the SR great motor, but it became the B16 of the nissan world. And yes I do have a truck motor under the hood....

My best was 14.8 . First time at the track, out of like 8 runs. I'm aiming at 14.6 next time. I'd say you would do low 14s or maybe better.

I was guesstimating my car to be a 14.7 or lower based on performance from the Greddy KA-T kit with similar mods and setup, they achieved something like a 14.5 (around that) on a FMIC 6 psi 370ccs and E-manage tune. (I DONT HAVE THE GREDDY KIT)

I want to upgrade my MAF to a N60 maxima or N62 Z32 for higher hp vs my stocker. I want to ugprade the clutch ASAP... I cant launch on stock clutch or else it will cook, already slips @ hard shifts. Then I want to get a better fuel management, prefereably a tuned ECU - - Enthalpy/JWT/ etc. and up the boost to about 8-10 psi (basically safely maxing out the stock block) Hope to reach the 300whp range.... and hit 13s on a street tire.

But I also want to upgrade my wheels, tires, and basically my whole suspension, I need bushings, tranny mount, engine mounts (looking @ the nismo package) and do general maintenance... (nismo slave cylinder, SS cluth line, adjustable suspension components, ) I also have electric Altima Fans sitting and waiting to be installed.

I want to finally take my car to the track and eventually take it on a nice road course and do some auto X. Just need some time and a lot of $$$

Its called ACID dipping :) it will remove ALL the grime and then you use special aluminum specific paint for refinishing HIGH temp stuff. After it gets done you can't tell it from new. I have a brand new cylinder head for sale off a SR20... no one wants to pay for it, and I have no use for it. Its for a FWD SR20DE- low port 94+ USDM motor.

Before it was dropped on Illuminas and H&Rs. The front lip is no longer on, and the car has 2 sets of wheels - these Racing Harts and stock "GXE looking alloys 16s" its a 5spd. I'm going to put new axle seals on it this Saturday, interior is cloth with seat heaters, BOSE, sunroof, 70Kish miles on it. Garage kept.

They have been sold a while back. I like the current wheels- especially on the back of the car they look NICE :)
