It has been doing this since day 1, and I took it into the dealer at least 2 times, and they don't find anything... and OH YEA... they said my seat isn't a recall one.. can that be true?

If it was a caliper I would figure your pedal would feel funny, but hey anything is possible.

so how do you get rid of the smell? doesn't it go away after you drive it for a while.

no, if it is the cat, you need a new cat, which is covered for 8 years since it's a emission component.

I have almost 6k miles on it, i do floor it alot.. i saw someone on the org , was o rings or something but i do agree it is the cat but the dealer dosn't want to do anything.

You tell the dealer you think the cat is done, the have to check it and if it is the cat they HAVE to replace it. If they say no, give a call to the nice folks at the EPA and see what they think. But yeah, you're a really careless driver so chances are your cat is gone, or jou just have a leak in your exhaust.

How can I make the dealer do something?

tell them it smells like the cat is busted or there might be an exhaust leak. They can't just say no to you. Go to a different dealer.

go in with the same complaint 4 times, then yell LEMON!!!
Ovaltine Jenkins
02-23-2006, 08:23 PM
hahahaha, but doesn't that problem have to be fixed 4 times first?
Brian

nope, just the same complaint IIRC

I thought you had to report the problem and get it fixed and if it happens 3 more times after they fix it, then it's a lemon.

I'm no expert so I'd suggest contacting one, or at least saying the words "lemon law" to the dealer
but first call nissan

If the Lemon thing does not work, call Nissan of North America and let them know of the problem and the dealer's refusal to fix it. I did that when I had my Audi. McGrath Audi refused to fix the cat under the 8 year emmissions warranty. They claimed it was the O2 sensors, even though their tech said the cat itself was "hollowed out" . I called Audi of America and they had Highland Park Audi do the replacement and forced McGrath to send me an apology letter.

Smell you get is from sulphur in our gasoline, and unfortunately its close to impossible to get rid of it. You could have a new cat installed but it will do the same thing. We have people with MDXs coming in for the same complains all the time (even after getting a new cat). Some cars react differently than others. Low Sulphur gasoline is supposed to be introduced here in the States shortly along with low sulphur diesel. USA gets the worst gasoline out of probably all the countries around the world belive it or not.
