Lost 1st gear in the Maxima anyone have this problem

My buddy just lost 1st gear, all the other gears shift perfect is this comon?


Hes looking for a replacment trans local, any junk yards or know of somone selling a good 5speed?

So what happens when 1st is engaged ? Does it pop out, grind, nothing is there-feels like neutral ? Or it just wont go in ? How is reverse ?

It will go into 1st but it feels like its in neurtal, doesnt grind, just free revs/

I should mention it happend at the track, went to launch bogged a bit and then almost through it self out of gear.

Mine works fine until it gets to 2nd or 3rd :( so "D" works until like 35mph and then I have to put on "2" other wise it will just lose speed and I wont be able to go speed limit. Cant wait to do my 5speed swap.
