^You cant just spray degreaser around and then water all over the place.
You have to cover your electronics up first.
When I do it, I just wipe everything the best I can with a shop cloth by hand and then spray the cd2 engine detailer on all of the black parts for shine then wipe that shit off.
Makes everything look pretty decent.

you don't have to cover anything but your air filter, if it's exposed.

You can get water on everything else?

why not? you could cover the alternator with a plastic bag but you don't have to.

it will all evaporate, so you dont have to worry about water getting everywhere.

when it rains hard isn't almost everything under your car wet? pretty much dont need to cover up anything. but to be on the safe side.

that's why you got the cover at the bottom so water don't splash up. but yeah you don't need to cover anything but the intake. i wash my engine all the time at those quater wash place.

no, th ebottom splash guards are there to protect the engine bay from getting dirty and the block from cracking from the cold water hitting the HOT engine...

i heard its better not to clean it, you can spray on some engine cleaner on a rag and wipe it down then out soem tire shine on the plastic stuff
we clean alot of engines at work and some of them when done throw the check engine light on

I wash my engine at the quarter places every time I change the oil (or get bored) I just keep the engine running, then keep it running long enough to be dry when I get home. I don't cover anything. Since my filter is in the fender, I don't have to worry about that.

i did this the other day...went and go a bottle of engine degraser spray it all over the place where there was oil/grease let it sit for like 10 mins. and just spray it off with a hose. I did cover my intake with a plastic bag..other then that i didn't cover anything..but yeah i ususaly do what sweet3rdgen does. I leave the engine running spray some of that degreaser on and then spray it off.
