Hello, i am back! I bought a set of Dual Bandpass Subs, http://www.dualav.com/carsubs/xobp12d.html,
and a Dual Amplifier, http://www.dualav.com/amplifiers/xia.html, its the first one(580 W). I was wondering if my 96 max could handle the weight. they seem kind of heavy. and if it could does anyone know where i could get them installed for cheap. and where and which cables should i get? Thanks so much.

duals are awesome! make sure u get a capacitor becuase you might drain your battery really quickly!

Yeah my friend has those same subs in his integra. His amp is a tad more powerful though, but overall sounds pretty good. IMO I wouldn't buy the duals, the cheapest route never seems the right way to go...

NO, a good battery will handle it just fine

Another question. Will the rattling from the bass make the side and rearview mirrors fall down or anything else crack/break? Thanks

Pablito

u coming to the meet in a few weeks? i wanna check out yo sub

11-29-2006, 07:58 PM
no no, nothing will crack or break you'll just hear many vibrations outside and maybe inside that get quite annoying or you can use some dynamat just not the actual brand cause its a rip and dynamat the trunk, i did the full trunk

and yeah cheapness isnt always the best route..

for a nice clean sound duals are not the way to go. Nothing will crack or break just from the rattling, trust me, i had much better equipment in my car before and nothing happened....

also, the reason why we pick on you is cuz you dont research before asking a question... so its obvious they are all going to rip you a new one...

I got one of these in my Max..... it sounds pretty good with a big Alpine V12 monoblock.....

If you want a small sub, I got a excellent Kicker Comp CVR 10" in a custom box built for it by my friend.... I got it from Tweeter few years back, he used to do custom installs there. Its a really nice sub- 75 bux its yours.

if you wanna be heard down the block, any sub will do.... now will the bass be clean, will the car rattle ? I seen some home speakers sound loud.... I'm not into spending thousands of dollars on audio so that everyone 4 blocks away can hear it too....

It's good for a cheap sub. The box kind of rattles but it sounds better with it then without.

what exactly are you lookin for in a sub, and how much are you willing to spend? there is alway the right combination sub and amp for for everyone depending on your price and preferences.

Mr Grey

He's buying stuff because he's getting deals on them. The problem is that he has done little to no research on it. He has come her looking for an opinion, but most people here are on their second+ car, or at least have done some of this modding before. It's his first car. Most of us would not really put anyhting Dual on our cars, but for the price..it's alright. Not the best system in the world, but i think it all depends on how he runs it, and deadens the car.

true, its just like both of my cousins who went out and bought the dual dvd indash after thanksgiving for $350. they like it cuz its cheap, i personally would be willing to spend the money for a better set-up with quality

If you are looking for SQL (sound quality level) these are not for you. If want SPL (Sound pressure level) and don't care about SQL then these are alright for the price. Just get a decent amp that is suffcient to power these, not more than their RMS ratting, and not to little. Just make sure you wire them correctly to the right ohms. It all depends how you wire them, normally you can get more bump if wire them at 2 ohms instead of 4 ohms if your speakers can handle at 2 ohms. Also you probably need a 4 to 0 gauge to power the amp suffciently to reduce the chance of you lights dimming everytime the speaker pounds. But with that amount of power, you can put in a cap into your set up to have more power coming out of the amp and subs.

Goldtooth

whats the difference between SQL and SPL at which the subs play? or their output?

Xmax
12-02-2006, 11:15 PM
The only difference between SQL and SPL, you would probably turn the bass higher in a SPL set up than to a SQL setup. With a SPL you will hear more bass than the actual lyrics or high frequecy instrument in the music you are listening to. With a SQL you will hear more lyrics and instuments with the high frequency over the bass, in this case the bass would not be that high. But I've seen setups where both SQL and SPL were invovled, meaning you can her the high frequency sounds just as well as the bass. I hope I gave you a better understanding of the difference of SPL and SQL since its pretty much based on the speakers you have and how you tune them to your liking.

Well, actually i returned them. I'm thinking of swapping the headlights, corners, bumper lights and taillights for aftermarket lights. Maybe, but im not sure.
