I've been thinking about picking up a small pick-up for the everyday hauling around stuff. I dont have a purpose or anything but i've been looking at trucks that can be had for 3-5k. So far only the older taco's and hardbody seems good at that range.

Any big truck people here?

yeah, ive been thinking about loaning a armada or pathfinder from work for a couple months, just to get me through winter. i know some people have done it. its only like $60 a month for insurance and "rental". other than that, all i got to do is fill it up with gas and get oil changed. i wonder if they will let me do it, it will be nice.

Paul in the long run, you could buy a dedicated set of steel wheels and Blizzaks from TireRack for less than that "rented" POS Nissan would cost ya- including crazy gas mileage it would be getting.

I think if I was getting 15MPG (winter MPG goes way down) and filled up for 60 bux every 4 days... thats 600 bux in gas a month, plus 60 for insurance and probably like 400 for renting- you are renting, not leasing or paying off..... renting is expenssive. SO it would cost ya a MINIMUM of 1000K a month to "rent" something for the winter, giving you my scenario.

Winter wheels would cost ya maybe 500 bux at the most, mounted and balanced. Don't belive me ? www.tirerackwholesale.com - since you work for a dealer you probably have a wholesale account with them and can get that good price TR gives dealers.

mike, it wouldnt be renting it would be driving a demo. my final cost including insurance, the "rental" without including gas is $60 a month. thats it. i pay a shit load for gas now, so i would most likely have to double what i pay now. so id be looking at around $500-700 in gas plus the $60. its not so bad, but i know what your saying with the winter tires.

I hope we get slammed with snow this week ! Its nasty out here in Naperville, streets flooded and the snow plows are out roaming around waiting for action.

Makes no diff to me, Subie is ready for snow- got new shocks for it + I might get a lift kit because its cheap.

If I found one that clean and cheap I would drive even to Colorado to get it.

Its funny but when U go to any of the "snowy" states, Subarus pretty much own the roads there. While in Colorado last winter, I saw 2 Maximas- both 3rd gens.

And I saw probably like few thousand Subies.

Cheap, never break down, fun to drive, eassy on gas.... what else can you ask for ?
