Ok i just installed a K&N high flow intake filter on my 96max....i don't have a whole ram intake i used a MAF adapter. when i first started my car i smelled a funky burning spell....also initally my idle rpm was up to 1400 rpm. i ran the car around the block and i felt i huge huge diffrence in sound. when i pulled back into my driveway my idle was stuck at 700 rpm in park. Can anyone tell me if any of this stuff is abnormal. as u can see i am a noob, and this is only my second performance mod.

What do you mean stuck at 700 rpm?

Seems normal to me......................

i mean at first when at park the car was idleing around 1400rmp initally before being ran at all....after running the car around the block it went back down to the ususal 700rmp when in park. im more concerned about the insane throttle noise.

You're fine. My idle is high when I start my car for the first time but IIRC, that's because that's the way the ECU is programmed. Also, the engine noise is normal. Intakes make our cars loud, especially in the high rpms.

the main problem i've seens is many people when cleaning are over oiling it and causing it to kill the MAF. aside from that i've only seen people state no diffrence or a little on the + side.

Silicone filters use a compound to help trap smaller particles. Every time I clean my filter, I use some as recommended by Monsterflow.

Car is fine...at cold the car will idle higher than 1k. 700 Idle after it has warmed up is normal.

Its just your ecu learning the new setup of your intake, you can reset your ecu or give your car a few days to learn your setup.
