any auto parts store will work as long as you give them the core... around $100 usually... but people have been saying it is not reliable... i agree that you have to watch out with those because 1 of them went bad on me a month later and the replacement is still running in the altima...

Don't pay attention to warranties.
They mean nothing in terms of quality.
The best rebuilt units I have seen are by a company called Dixie, they are usually %10 higher than other rebuilts, they "only" have a 2 year warranty, but I never saw a defect from them.

you pay them $100 + 100 core price up front. so really you pay $200, when you replace it, you bring your old one back to them and they give you back your $100 core price. if you dont return you dont get core.
They dont rebuild anything for you there. You get a new one, which is 90% rebuilt ones from somewhere. Even the ones at the dealership are rebuild ones. I got a quoted a starter on mines with my discount i think it was $115 with core. and the alternator came out to be $120. So for you parts would be like in the area of 250$ from nissan which are remans with a 100 or 150 core. they do carry the 1 year or 90day warranty.
if this all confuses you have your mechianic/friend get one from who he gets his stuff from.

overall after everythign is installed and returned. $150 i would say. i rarely seen anything under 100$ and i dont see a reason for them to be over 200$. if you get a reman/ rebuilt on.
plus withever your dude charged. while he is doing the alternator. i think he might be good if you throw some belts on there as well. since he has to remove one of the 2 to get to the alt. i think belts are 30$ or near that if you have the money.
