if you had the choice of these 4 rims, which would you take?
choice 1: 18" $700
http://rbmotoring.dreamhosters.com/albums/album69/aab.jpg
choice 2: 17" $399
http://rbmotoring.dreamhosters.com/albums/album510/aae.jpg
choice 3: 17" $299

choice 4: 16" $399

#2 for sure with a nice drop.
Is that rbmotoring?? How much are they?
Mr Grey

I would do number 4. You can never go wrong with a classic 5 spoke design. Followed by choice 1

I'd pick none if those, but if those are the only choices, u have to go with 4. Id go with 2 if they weren't black......

I have the best taste in rims, yO. I didnt think those rims in my links would fit, just referring to the style.
And I agree ^^ with the #2 with the drop.
Why dont you see if mike is selling his old rims, they would look nice.

Based on the prices and sizes, I would go with #3. Black rims are getting played out, and there's something about those rims I don't like...I can't quite put my finger on it. It's not the dirt :squint:
I would not upgrade by staying with the same size my car comes with stock....
Kowalski
12-27-2006, 01:24 PM
i'm actually having a hard time choosing... 4 is out and 1 is too expensive... 2 and 3 have positives and negatives... like black being played out and the style in #3 would have to grow a bit more to my liking...
97SMG
12-27-2006, 01:29 PM
With the exception of black being played out, I think that #2 would look better on a 4th gen. #3 in my opinion might look better if they were 18's.
Kowalski
12-27-2006, 01:35 PM
i've been leaning towards the black rims and i agree with a larger size for number 3 but $300 for rims is an awesome price...

These are used so there should be some damage to them. I don't think it's bad at all For that price it's worth it..........

#4 rims- old school, too small too ugly.
#3 rims, not too bad- mesh style but with mesh wheels 17 is always a bit small.
#2 rims, looks cheap, looks too small and not wide enough.
#1 rims- great wheels.
I just missed out on a set of black Volk TE37s off Ebay.... I will be buying new wheels come spring time. My Volks will be for sale, but it will be around 1200 bux since my tires where 1200 bux new, and I got plenty thread life left on them. I might be buying a 2nd Gen Q45 in the spring for a new "beater" as my Scoobie will most likely get given away to the family who needs another car.... Q45 with my Volks will look sick.
I'm going with wide, deep dish black 17x9 TE37s.

number one is nice u got to 18" or higher on a sedan. unless ur a racer then we dont like those around here
Actually, 17 or 18 is the way to go. If you go less, theyll look to small, if you go higher they will probably look too big, and will weigh too much. Even if you dont race, you dont want that much. I bought 19's for mine, cuz i thought that was what i wanted, and than when they came in, they are such much bigger than they look.
Personally, i wouldnt pick any of the ones you listed andy. I like rims that have a more elegant or more conservative look to them. Actually. To be honest, i like the way that the Alti rims looked on hectors, i think those look really good, or even the 6 spoke 5th gen maxima rims. I think the ones that rob listed here would look pretty nice too.

DasTeknoViking

It would work, they might be tucked in a lil bit thou- it deff won't be sticking out so you can work with spacers to get the look you want. I considered them.... but Tire Rack only had em in Gold at the time.
But Tire Rack now finally sells Volk TE37. No prices on the site and no cars can be looked up with them. 5th gens should really look at EVOs figment as far as wheels go, they are spot on as far as looks go.

DasTeknoViking

I think for the price you can paint them any color you like.
Rota usually doesn't make many diff bolt patterns. Most of their wheels are Subaru sized and anything designed for those cars wont fit good on a Maxima. I would recomend 8.5" wheels to be around 40mm-45mm offset to fit right on a 4th gen, 5th gen can get away with bigger offset as the body is wider, but the front and rear track dimensions are very similar to the 4th gen. This is why 5th gen wheels always look tucked inside the car.

Not to ruin your dream or anything.... but have you priced out a set yet WITH good tires ? I see this all the time- pimp rims, crap tires. If you buy Volks, SSRs, Advans, Rays, Work wheels- you do not cheap out on some chezzy tires that cost nothing.

I say make compromise between the 18x7.5 and 18x8.5... there's no 18x8?
I know the ideal offset for my car is +40-45 mm... most guys with 19" or bigger seem to make it work with no rubbing issues
Cousin Ryan
03-18-2007, 01:44 AM
Personally i think the 18x7.5 is good with probably the 45 offset. And i searched high and low to find some weight specs on these rims and couldnt find ANYTHING. Youll probably need to call the yokohama to find out. But damn dude, these are not cheap rims. one rim costs as much as i paid for all 4 of mine.

Andy- good luck on getting these for 2500 with tires. It might be hard to get JUST the wheels for 2500.
What you need to do is find someone in Japan whos willing to hook you up. I've priced out Volk TE37s about 8 years ago for my Sentra. When looking through old Options magazine it was bout 850 dollars for a set IN Japan. Where here they where bout 1700 bux.

I was thinking about those for mine in 18x8
I agree with greg though, the rotas arent too expensive and are decent for the money.

i always like rota subzero's
rotas are pretty much knock offs everything that is made in the Philippines. most sets are under 1k. a lot are light weight wheels but finding in a maxima fitment is a little harder because ebay if flooded with slipstreams and subzero in 4x100 honda fitments.

Just get whatever you like Andy...the right set of rims, can be timeless. You can swap them from car to car, the 5 spoke design pretty much never goes out of style.

I got Rota Subzero's and yes fitment was and issue with my rears, I had to put a wheel spacer in the back. These have a 45 off set.

I agree... If those are THE rims that you really want, than i would say its worth every penny to save up and get them. Thats how i was with mine, i love mine so much, and i wouldnt settle for anything else. I just lucked out that my rims of choice were not that expensive.

There is reason for the wheels to have camber like that.
I think it looks good.

there is NEVER a reason for a street car to have camber that far off.

Plenty of guys in NY rock these rims. They look good, even in 19's. They're heavy, but totally up to you. Andy, don't go by what everyone tells you. Get what you wnat, and have no regrest about it. What people tell you are opinions, and just take them as that.
