I plan on getting a MicroVision LCD. How can I tell which Head Unit will display video during AM/FM, CD, MP3 or XM.

I do not want a head unit that will display video only in video mode. I want one that will also show video for all other modes.

Hope this helps. Based on the above information, can anyone recommend a good headunit?

Do you plan on getting a head unit that plays: CD/DVD/MP3. Or are you going to get a head unit that plays CD/MP3 and have a separate DVD player for your MicroVision?

If you are going to get an all in one unit that plays CD/DVD/MP3, you will want to find one that has dual zone capabilities. Otherwise whenever you hit the source button to toggle between CD to DVD to SAT TUNER, the display would switch w/ the unit.

For suggestions:
Panasonic CQ-DVR592U
Pioneer DVH-P5000MP

These are two off the top of my head I know of. If you need one let me know I can get you a good price on one, we are direct w/ both brands!

Thanks for the feedback.

I am planning on getting a HU that plays CD/DVD/MP3/XM (or XM ready). I want to integrate this with the MicroVision.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll google the model numbers. How do you get good prices?

My work is a replacment service for insurance companies for stereo claims. Which means we are MECP and MPS certified and have access to pretty much every brand at dealer cost, sometimes below..

Sam,
Do you deal with State Farm ? I just got my stuff settled with them and they sent me to a company called AJRS who does their stereo claims. I might sell the CVA-1014 along with the KRC-401 ( I belive thats the model, basically like a expanssion that has Audio/Video in, Navi in, 3 sets of 4V preamp outputs) and get something better as the CVA-1014 is not as good as my old CVA that got stolen. AJRS is sending the repleacement stuff out to me now, so I will have it sometime next week. I wanna get it professionally installed as I don't wanna deal with installing the stuff over again, and the insurance is paying for the install also- got some kinda voucher for the install coming in the mail.

I am looking at CVA-D100 or possibly D310. They gave me the option of upgrading to those, but unfortunately they are on backorder for the 310 and the D100 and D200 (double din unit) are not sold yet. What kinda price could you get on those ? Let me know privately if you don't wanna disclose the price in public.

I got a MRD-M605 mono amp for my subwoofer, newest Eclipse 12" Aluminum series DVC sub, Infinity front components, 4 channel Alpine V-series amp thats 70x4 RMS (forget the model), Sirrius Alpine Connect unit, Boston rear midranges in the door, and CVA1014 for the head unit... I need all the stuff but the interior speakers installed- tweeters need installing as they stole those. I want it to bump decently....

AJRS is our main competition. They are right the D310 is on backorder from Alpine (no projected ship date), the D100 and the W200 is available, I will check to get you a price on those. Just remember as you mentioned that the W200 is a double din unit.

Thanks Sam ! I got my CVA-1014 today from AJRS, brand new in the box... but I don't wanna install it till I find out about the other units. I am awaiting for the expanssion box for the 1014 which has 3 sets of Preouts, video in, navi in etc. Since this head unit has no DVD or CD player I was thinking of getting the new PS2 and mounting it in the glove box to play music and movies on it... but if I can get the W200 or D100 I will do it.... depends on the price. W200 has no detachable face why I am kinda worried bout it, I live in a condo and I don't think it will last here too long before something happens again. Is the picture good on the 1014 ? Its not going to see many movies or anything, I just like the large LCD screen for ease of reading and future upgrades if needed.

Any alpine indash monitor is going to have a nice pictures so dont worry about that. If anything instead of messing w/ a PSII for the music, why not get the IPOD adaptor or maybe a CD/MP3 changer.

I have a MP3 6 disc Alpine changer in the trunk, its just a lil unconvenient to load the CDs into it. I don't have an IPod, but I got MP3 Oakleys, Sirius S50 w/MP3, LG VX9800 MP3 cell phone, PSP, IPaQ.... I have more MP3 players than I know what to do with them. IPod aint for me.

I have my eyes set on the W200. Let me know how much and when it will become avalible.
