Dish washing soap is good to get rid of wax. i would not recommend using that at all. Go to the store, and buy some car wash soap. Pretty much any type is fine.

Meguiar's Gold Class is good OTC car shampoo. I prefer Zaino but that's because I'm a Zaino-whore. I would stay away from high-alkaline soaps though such as dishsoaps because they are really hard on the rubber trim.

I use Optimum and/or Poorboy's. And don't EVER use dish soap on your car.
