View Full Version : me vs stock 95 SE and maybe a moral?

I have 00VI, Ypipe, testpipe with O2 WB installed, and Short ram intake. Tuned with VAFCII and WB O2 sensor in third gear to low to mid 13s AFR and getting a bit richer to about 12.5 at the upper RPMs. It is also an Auto. I have my 13w7 sub/amp/box in my trunk. My friend is also an auto and he is stock without anything in his trunk. My car did not pull on him like I expected to. We did a few 20-40 rolls and depending on who got the jump, that was the person who stayed in front, but I SLOWLY, (and cant emphasize SLOWLY enough) started creeping up until I would eventually catch up to him and I guess you can say "win". We also did 2 runs from 0 mph. I killed him off the line both times and kept pulling away from him both times. Yes, I did power-brake.

Now after this "reality check", if you may, I dunno if its worth all these monies for what I've done so far. 00VI was a free gift to myself(don't ask) and about $700 for VAFCII, WB, Y and other miscellaneous items. Unless there is something wrong with my car, I want to get something else now.... most likely, and especially because my friend just got a brand new WRX and I must say I was speechless. He told me he was wondering what would be the outcome should we go at it.

How much more WHP am I expecting to get should I convert to 5spd?

20-40 rolls ? WTF ? Do a 15-100MPH roll. You will see that top end of the 00VI will absolutely destroy a stock 4th gen manifold. That is if the 00VI is working still.

Short ram intake hurts low end. 00VI is just top end.... so really you have nothing on him.

Dont even mess with the 2.5L WRX if you can't beat a stock 4th gen.

yea seriously the reason for the VI is to replace the flat line at 5k-7k it has crazy + up there. 20-40 rolls a SOHC civic can probaly keep up dude. a wrx 20-40 will murder you for the obvious reasons. your modds and putting you at a 5speed will bring you to the all might 200whp mark that is if everything is on par.

from what i read about you goldy i put you at 175 whp after all that is sad and done because some things you just cant learn on your own from no experience. 1 little pony here and one little pony there all adds up in the end. if you want to go fast why the heck do you have subs. wasn't the rule of thumb on weight reduction 100lbs= like .20 off the 1/4.

20-40 roll wow you can definetly tell alot bout that
also the 95 is lighter from factory, plus your heavy ass sub dont help you

Automatic suck i know i have one, plus these are maximas not evos or sti basic upgrades aren't gonna give you 300 horsepower lol, i think that siballiance guy or his friend asked me my upgrades, i told him and he was like wow so you have like 300 horsepower lol i almost peed my pants laughing. I still remember hector was laughing too hehe. Also your system has to weigh atleast 100 or more pounds and that makes a big difference. The best thing for you and me to do now is a 5speed swap.

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 12:01 PM
So, + 5spd swap, - short ram, + stock intake, - sub setup = should equal nice results? THen would the WRX be worth mentioning yet at that point?

and how come 15 rolls? and not like 40 rolls? I would like an explaination, if you may? thanks

Wrx isnt invincible, but you might need more mods than that to beat it.
Your friend has an 07 wrx?

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 01:39 PM
yes, he totalled his 04 350Z and now he just got a brand new with 50 miles WRX

he took me around the block, and omg second gear is so naaajjjsss....

he refers to his max and himself as the driver VS a WRX in his type of race which is a 20-40 roll... i would say the WRX is invincible. Given the situation VS his max.

I know personally they aren't invincible they are well above a 4th gen with a 3.0 and a wallet the size of goldy's =P

i dont understand why people want to mod to beat a certain car.

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 01:46 PM
no, no, no, thats not the case. I know I wont keep up with the WRX. My friend was just pondering the thought, if I could keep up with him.... The original story was about me and another stock maxima. the 20-40 rolls are NOT about the WRX.

I would get raped?
nope......if your car is running good 100+ u should be able to pull on him

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 02:19 PM
interesting, but thats probably without the sub in. and to remove the sub is too much work, cuz it doesnt just come out of the trunk, its like 30min of work.

Just_A_Wrx
04-03-2007, 03:13 PM
Unless the wrx is modded you might have a chance.
The awd kills the top end, but this thing still gets up to 110 pretty easy but mine isnt stock.

That sucks about u vs. the stock 95.....all those mods and u should of creamed it. my friend just bought a 06 evo rs and keeps on challenging me take him....i just tell him my car is a lover not a fighter. lol plus he can't shift so i wouldn't take advantage of that poor car.

your 99 SE maxima is alot heavier then a 95 maxima, the 95s didnt have all the saftey crap like yours does

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 04:00 PM
so would 300 lbs give or take some, cause this outcome?

Ovaltine Jenkins
04-03-2007, 04:04 PM
a difference of less than 20lbs.

20-40mph will make that y-pipe and VI useless so he just has a weight advantage...

oallauddin
04-03-2007, 04:06 PM
thats an interesting theory....in general my car(96) does feel pretty light, but i don't think i could take a modded 99....on a random note: just the other day me and my sister were talking about how light my car felt compared to her TL. mabey someone can find a thread on the .org about 97-99 weight reduction and the diffrence it makes.

Goldtooth

so where is my strongest power band at?

Ovaltine Jenkins
04-03-2007, 04:14 PM
y-pipe is 3500+, VI is 5200+, if you set it up for that. So you should still be in 1st I think during a 20-40, not sure what rpm ur at in 1st at 20mph...

Mr Grey
04-03-2007, 04:15 PM
Any Maxima is lighter than a TL...a TL is very well insulated to keep noise out, while a Maxima tries to do the same....at least the GLE tries. 95/96 are a tad bit lighter, and also less restricted electronically.

Either way, as Dave stated, at that point nothing kicks in.....if any of you youngin's would read anything that has been posted you would realize a couple of things.

The VI kicks in at higher RPMs, the Y-Pipe kicks in at about 3K or so. You dod the math. If 2 Auto's are racing from 20-40mph where the RPMs barely reach any of the power band past 3K. Who do you think will win?

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 04:27 PM
so suppose we go at it again, what MPH roll do I want to start at?

Ovaltine Jenkins
04-03-2007, 04:31 PM
figure it out genius. Get in your car, put it in 1st and see what mph you're at around 3500-4000rpm. Do that and race til the very end of 2nd....

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 04:35 PM
Brilliant!!

Kowalski
04-03-2007, 05:38 PM
screw that, part out the car and give me the VI... invest in a WRX...

Goldtooth
04-03-2007, 06:07 PM
Im not converting back to stock manifold, to hell with that! The 00VI took long enough to get it running right. I'll sell you the maxima and you can do whatever the hell you want with it....

so I put it in first and at about 3500 or 4000 RPMs(damn it cant remember anymore) is about 22 mph....

jvelos3
04-04-2007, 11:49 PM
isnt 12.5-13 afr a bit rich? leaning it out a little would give u more power correct?

Goldtooth
04-05-2007, 12:05 AM
as far as im concerned that 13.0 to 13.5 is where Im supposed to aim for, while getting richer towards the end, at the upper RPMs.

these are the reason why i put your car at a max of 175whp if you ever make it there with a 5speed swap. you just lack knowledge. dave isn't going to spoon feed you all the knowledge he has that you lack.

just keep going 20-40 rolls. you know i bet you can smoke a evo from 20-40 roll if the evo has 22's on it.

that fact that you have no idea where your power band means that you should not be tuning anything. :smashfreak: now i see why everything gets mad at you. just reading this stuff and your comments and thoughts just pisses me off.

1st gear at 3500 and your at 22mph. your a fucking tard. the nice way to go about this is get up to about 40 and let the car coast and then step on it and see where the rpm starts off. a 40mph-80mph with OD off and you should be able to put a little distance on him. 40-10o is where you SHOULD be king.

i say should because of the statements you stated about. give you nitirous and next week you will be on another board

Goldtooth
04-06-2007, 11:47 AM
The fuck are you bitching at me for? Have you even read anything regarding tuning on the org? Does it look like my car is about to explode? I've been running this setup for almost a year....maybe you could learn a thing or two....

and why wouldnt I be able to just use 1>2>D.... huh huh huh?

Have you read what Dave said? figure it out genius. Get in your car, put it in 1st and see what mph you're at around 3500-4000rpm. Do that and race til the very end of 2nd....

Goldie...look at your posts from the beginning of the thread. Look at your other posts in the past 2 weeks. Read them without thinking you wrote them, but as looking at someone else's posts. You jump head first and then ask questions. It gets frustrating when people ask for advice, or help and then do the opposite of what they are told.

excatly why i'm bitching at you for goldy. its people like you that we go no don't get this and you end up getting it 2 weeks later. it is true that you might have your setup for over a year but that thread you posted about you 00vi install 1000 questions is still fresh in my head. you need to be spoon fed everything. when i read some of your posts its like goes into my head like "WTF how can someone ask/ do this". the most recent one is how can someone actually consider a 20-40 roll . Its like seeing a 16 year old saying omg i went past the speeding limit by 5. 20-40 rolls are done all the time and honestly big heavy duty trucks should be able to kill you in 20-40 rolls. this thread alone proves that you dont know anything about usable powerbands. So how can you really be able to tune without understand this. A lot of shops blow up cars because they have never tune a certain type of car and is not used to the way that car runs. but w/e i'm done here.

i'll be reading the funny pictures from now on that everyone post in your threads. cause of the goofy stuff you ask/do
