any tips on a non-working parking brake? Feels ok at the handle, the line "tightens up", but no actual pull at the caliper. Is there a common place for 3rd gen parking brake cables to freeze up? Rear calipers squeeze just fine under hydraulic pressure, but the parking brake cable just doesn't seem to be pulling at all.

If I have to replace any cables, the person buying this car in 5 days will be leaving it in gear to park it. Eh, the car will be living in Iowa, no huge hills there. I hope for his sake IA isn't a state that has one of those crazy yearly "safety inspections." What state is it that's crazy about inspections? Somewhere out east, I know I've heard of people on the org complaining about stupid inspection writeups.

I'll maybe get under there and see if I can see anything, perhaps hit it with some penetrant. But I'm done with projects on this car, it just needs to go. I don't think it's all that crazy to tell someone they need to leave a 14 year old car in gear to park it.

th enut is tightened, no? it can be snapped cables... those are around $55 through paul... under the car, over the resonator heat shield, there is a triangle connection that connects one corner to the handle and the other 2 corners to each brake... check that area and near the caliper...
