Friend of mine who was responsible for the track event and sponsors at the SE-R convention (he doesn't even drive a SE-R) offered us some help if we need it. He said he can help with the track if we need it.....

I would love to do this again, but w/o GoKarts. I been there before from work, so it was free- and we got to run 5 times on the track, and then a championship series. 60 bux to run for 2 sessions, no thanks. For 100 bux more I rather beat on my own car ALL DAY at a real race track.

if we get enough interest in having it chicago again, than we should start planning it again soon lol... and hopefully this wes guy can help us on the road racing thing, and we can get more people to come out next year...

only problem i see is if we have more people, i dont think busse woods will suffice, we barely had enough space for the cars we had this year.... maybe could fit another like.. 5-7 cars... but that we can figure out later... haha

Brian

we could use one of Busse's bigger groves, they just cost more.
I'd prefer us to have one off the main "strip"
we started planning this years about a year ago.
shame I forgot to do 2 things I suggested, 1. suntimes automotive "happenings" column (saturday paper) 2. other magazines (I.E. Nissan sport etc...)
If we can get more concrete plans earlier on we can probably get more people too.

So it looks like they are pushing for FL as far as '08 goes.

As much as I like FL, I don't think I will drive out there because :

Been there 3 times in the last 10 months.
Theme parks are the main attractions = $$.
I been to all the theme parks.
This time of the year, bugs are crazy down there.
Heat is kinda bad, humidity is VERY high there at this time.

I wouldn't mind driving out there as I always have flew out to FL for vacations, but I already told the woman we are not going to FL for a long time.

So who is down for a large meet again, we could get many of the people who came out to do this again I bet.....

More importantly, who is interested in spending UP TO 200 dollars to run their car around the track ?

You would get approx 4-6 runs out on the track, each 20 min long. Thats about 1 hour to 1.5 hour of track time- vs going to the go-karts for 60 bux and getting *2* 5 min runs on some slow ass lil cart. Or paying 30 bux to drag race your car.

If we could get 10 people into this, I bet we could get another 10 from the SE-R club and then another 10-15 other Nissans have get 40 cars out on the track somehow. 40x200 bux is about 4K dollars which would cover Autobahn.

The talk is about Maxus for next year. If there are any road racing days it won't be because of this.

BTW, sorry Mike but I'm in the complete opposite this time. I wouldn't mind driving to FL. I have never been is probably the biggest reason for it. Either way I support who ever hosts Maxus.

Althou FL is nice to visit and all.... but I really do not feel like driving out in my car with todays gas prices just so I can go drag racing.

I will fly out, rent a car and show up in that if anything.

Mr Grey
06-28-2007, 09:22 AM
They say they have some potential down there...i don't know Mike. FL and NY area has many more Maximas than we see locally. We have fhegs from Gurnee that won't drive because it's too far to get a burger, and sit in a parking lot. People don't see the beauty of meeting others while at these events. Maybe enough people down there can get a hook up to road race, and we could potentially have only Maximas racing :gotme:

Either way Mike, I'm just goping to sit and watch the debating going on. Whatever, the final decision is I will support it.

Brian

DasTeknoViking
06-28-2007, 09:36 AM
Driving is not the problem for me, I will drive anywhere.... but there has to be some kind of bomb ass meet with racing involved for my ass to even think bout driving. I only have 2 weeks of vacation starting October.... and I think the 1st week will go towards a trip to Hawaii and 2nd week will be for the SE-R convention in Vegas- because I know how these guys get down, and they RACE on tracks with turns and such.

I'm not dissrespecting anyones choice of racing here, but people who drag race their cars obviously have never tried the type of racing with turns involved.

I always played with the idea of driving to FL in my Max vs some POS rental car..... roads down there are MUCH MUCH better than here.

I'm down, I got more time to attend meetings now etc etc etc.

Most important thing that might make or break Maxus '08 - ROAD RACING !

Mr Grey
08-15-2007, 10:02 AM
It seems we have a good contingency on that this year. Most of us are either modded enough to try it and most of our cars are mecahnically sound. I'm sure we can round close to 15 locals willing to pay $150 to run. I say after Sept 1 we start doing some fundraising of all types. Wether it be the BBQ, a Car Wash, Detailing or even some sort of Bake Sale :007: Maybe we ccan throw a house party of sorts and all the proceeds go to maxus.

97SMG
08-15-2007, 10:08 AM
I can contribute to the donations by selling myself. Im sure we can round around 15 local members that will be willing to pay for my services. As far as road racing I'm down with that. I havent been on the org lately, so im not sure where everything is at with Maxus, but it would be cool to have it here again. Maybe this time I can attend atleat two days instead of the one.

Brian
08-15-2007, 10:12 AM
the org shmoes have 15 more days before I say we go unilateral on it.

Mr Grey
08-15-2007, 10:14 AM
On the org everyone is trying to have it in their backyard. No one has laid out a plan that looks like it might work. They just keep throwing places out, and it's mostly east coast guys. they want it in NY because they have huge numbers. The DC guys want it there because it's less congested than NY and also have big numbers, but no one there is talking about road racing. The FL guys seem to be in a better position than the other 2 but their locations for events seem to be more than 2 hours drive. Either way, Xander posted an ultimatum deadline of Sept. 1. If no one steps up with a good contingent plan, then we're taking up Maxus for 08. i approve the move

DasTeknoViking
08-15-2007, 10:45 AM
Lets not forget, these guys always bring up the fact that they have "tons of cars show up". Yet their events are usually small car show and a BBQ..... they never planned a 3 day event like MAXUS is. They don't take that into consideration, they think its going to be like doing a BBQ.

Which as I told Hector, only requires securing a spot in the park and post on the forum about the happening of this BBQ. MAXUS is WAY more than just that, and those who wish to make MAXUS happen- need to realize this.

I'm already planning a few things here and there. Basically anything that I can think of to raise money i will do/organize. No more last minute charity work. I may do some detailing, but not in the same conditions as last time. I'm already looking into parties at some bars. I know a few places in which we can talk to the owners and set up something to where we get some of the profits for the night. These places have a nice sized dance floor, and drinks. Maybe even talk to someone about having a hookah place meet. I'll talk to the owner and see what deal they can give us.

Alright, as far as I see it Xander and Mike are working on the dealerships. I think Mike has a nice connection with the track, so he was going to look into that. I can basically get people to organize and show for fundraising. I'm trying to overshoot in order to cover track, t-shirts, and food, and maybe even sight seeing, clubbing, bar hopping. As far as t-shirts go I'm not too worried because Kozue came through with that. My biggest concern at the moment is getting to raise money to cover track expenses.

Well if we where to split this with lets say the SE-R guys, I'm sure we could get minimum of 10 cars (SE-Rs) to show up that are local.

SE-R convention had about 40 cars running and they managed to make it work. We paid like 170 bux or something similar to run. So that should cover the track expense and I know for sure that some of us have car friends who would love to run their car on the track also.

I'm willing to front the down payment $$$, but I have to be able to get it back in timely fashion.

I'm waiting for an answer from my SE-R buddies with all the track details, how where, n how they got it.
