I would like to first apologize for not posting this earlier. I signed up in Febuary and haven't post an introduction. I am sorry. This was brought to my attention when I posted a question earlier today. I am sorry.

My name is Tony. I am from South Holland, IL and currently live in Tinley Park. I drive to Chicago everyday in my 96 Maxima to work in/near the Pilsen neighborhood. I purchased my car in 2000, against my parents will and was forced to park it in the streets of Orland Park. My parents are against foreign cars so I was not able to utilize their driveway or their garage. However after a couple of years of not needing to use their garage to do any repairs at all, they warmed up to my car and allowed it to have driveway & garage access. A few years later I moved to Tinley Park. The Max is still running very strong.
Thank you for having this informative site.

NIGHTMAREuki, My parents have 2- ' 98 chevy blazers, and each truck had required alot more work and attention than my max.

Bakermax, I bought my maxima in 2000 with around 40k, now it has 165k I think.

Nice, I can never understand how people can be loyal to POS american cars. A 98 blazer is a real terd, cheap inside and out.

tony, keep up the good work and convince your parents that maxima is no worse than impala or taurus.....

A max is way better than an impala or taurus

i have an impala... all i can say about it is that its comfortable and quiet... but balls slow and unresponsive... just like most cars that have the damn servo throttle..

There is nothing wrong with an Impala or a torass, I'v actually had a 93 torass and it held up pretty well. Impalas are nice too, but kinda boring. Maranello is right, they are comfy and quiet. But to me a Max is much more fun and better quality engine and better fit n'finish. Not putting down the impala, but the max is in another category.

we rented a new taurus to go to detroit a couple weekends ago. it had some nice power. thats it. leather seats were uncomfortable as hell and gave my dad backaches. i think the armrest was made out of either brick or cement, it was so fkn hard.

The taurus I had was a 93 and it lasted 160k, I only got rid of it because the AC condendser crapped out on me. So I bought a 98 Sable, which saved my life in a really bad wreck. I hate to say it, but I don't think I would have walked away from the wreck were I in the Max.

Schmad, did you guys get a 500? I like those, they have tons of room, arent' they going to be renamed Taurus soon?

the badge on the car said taurus, but the the sticker on the key said 500. i was just hoping when i returned the key they wouldnt give me shit about stealing a 500 and returning a taurus

If it was a front end collision, there aren't that many cars with a stronger front end than a 4th gen.

Really? That's good to hear. But no, it was a side impact, I got jacknifed by a crown vic cab going about 60 in a 35. It was my fault, but he was going so fast I misjudged the time I had to turn, it was at night. I ate some glass and got the shit knocked out of me by the passenger side airbag (i hit it on the side/corner). But the Sable held up really well, the pass side compressed about 14". I don't know how well the Max would have done in the same collision, it's a lot lighter car.
