Ok my only problem with Vista.

Sometimes the task bar icons/windows get messed up. If I try clicking on one window, the other one pops up. Does anyone have this problem ?

My computer is a Packard Bell P1 120mhz, 8mb ram, 40gb hard drive, 14.4kbs modem.

The 40gb hard drive is your problem. To a Packard Bell, a 40gb hard drive seems ludacris.

HAHA, no.

It seems as if the task bar gets all jacked up after the computer comes back from sleep/screen saver. It seemed to do it every once in a while, and now it seems to do it alot. Kapersky anti-virus software on it, maybe I got some spam or trojan on the computer ? I dunno how I would get a trojan, I'm a Durex man personally.

He told me last night he ran an new anti virus program. It seems that it was only 30% done scanning when he last checked and it had half a screen full of possible viruses.

Ok so it seems like others have this same issue as I do.... check this out.

I still havent found an answer to how to fix it. I really do not want to dick around with the XP install- if its even possible to do it. I got too much crap to back up if thats the case.

Anybody know about the 'Ubuntu' which is supposed to just be a free and easier version of vista? I would like to know more about it if anybody has tried it ..

I run Edubuntu (educational version of Ubuntu) at home on the desktop.
it runs perfectly fine with 99% of non-microsoft applications that I've tried
it also comes with a boatload of it's own software that is usually compatible with the wintel equivalent.
I don't recommend it for gaming though.
