I would like to know what is the procedure for detailing?
For example
1. wash car
2. wetsanding
3. buff
4. clay
5. polish
6.wax
is that the order that a car should get detailed (exterior)?

I've seen a few people wetsand the entire car... This is only if you want to remove even the factory orange peel. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a pro.
I'm guessing
wash
clay
wash
polish/swirl buster
wax
sealer

that's where polish comes in...
Maybe rubbing compound but that too is pushing it.

Some of the guys pretty much said it.
Wash
Clay
Wash again
Polish
Seal
Wax
This is recommended to learn. Then you use rubbing compounds once you have some practice. Some polishes alone are strong enough to give buffer burn if you don't know how to work a buffer. Rubbing compound is asking for big time trouble.
