Hey guys. Just wondering....any news on the track!? Once the first of the year starts, it's basically down hill from here.

BTW, just to light the fire.....someone better come up with more ideas for fundraising. I'll help, but I will not do what I did last year to benefit Maxus. I have my own bills to pay, and breaking even is not my idea of a good year. I plan to get ahead. I have no problems getting my hands dirty, but money is not something you guys can expect from me unless it's to pay for my own expenses.

I agree, if there's going to be a track day we need to get started planning now. I know Mike posted over $9000 to get into Autobahn. I think we need to look for something more economical. Even with a less expensive track day, we'd most likely need more than just Maximas. I think if we can get the fee to around $125 there would be a lot more interest. If we want to allow other cars, I have a friend that would most likely come down, at least for the track day (IS300 with some mods)

There is good news, a Nissan Dealer is willing to sponsor the track day. Its not certain but I'll be talking to Mike to get all the details.

I was looking on the Autobahn's schedule, www.drivefastbesafe.com, and according to the schedule, the two only available dates in June are the 6th and the 20th. So that bascially narrows down to two of these dates for the track day at the Autobahn.

Mr Grey
01-15-2008, 10:04 AM
WTF!?!?!? They already have dates reserved? :banghead:
Do it already for the 20th. People are all out of school by then, and Father's Day is not an issue.

Yup, some companies bid for the date at least a year before the scheduled date. Or the Autobahn has already have a race date scheduled for that date. I'd reserve it now, but we need the deposit to have the date reserved. That is why I've been pushing Mike to get his dealership to front the money asap if they are willing to sponsor Maxus.

Mr Grey
01-15-2008, 10:12 AM
I understand companies bidding for it, but didn't we run into the excuse that nothing could be bid on until the new year starts? Either way, we better make our bid for it. Just make the official post date, and people will plan accordingly. I believe it will land close to what it was last year anyway.

+1 for reserving the track for June 20th. IIRC the tentative date for Maxus was that weekend anyway....

Its too bad you guys don't have something like this there http://www.mnsafetycenter.org/ They rent the track for about 1k a day.

Mr Grey
01-15-2008, 11:41 AM
Wow, nice. 1k would be sweet with just like 10 of us running, and it's very plausible. Either way, I think the cost will be covered, and price should be reasonable for everyone.

I just don't see how Mike's dealership will benefit from donating us $4k. No matter what advertisements we use in magazines or tshirts or whatever, they are a car dealer and don't really cater to nissan enthusiasts and people who are out of state which most will be. Look at it from their perspective and tell me how them giving us $4k, benefits them in any way?

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If they want to donate that amount, I'm not going to argue.

Ovaltine Jenkins

I know I know. I'm no arguing except that the dealership hasn't agreed to it yet. From what mike said we need to convince them to give us $4k. That might be a bit hard...

Xmax
01-15-2008, 03:08 PM
Yes $4k will be hard, but at least we could try. I'm expecting more like $2k - $3k.

Mr Grey
01-15-2008, 03:13 PM
Do they have a site or phone number to the parts department. Figure we can throw it on our siggys and throw some business their way. :gotme:
Just for starters.

Got it, Dave. I thought the 4K was already 'donated'.

Did Mike or someone check the pricing for Blackhawk?

Ovaltine Jenkins
01-15-2008, 03:46 PM
Yeah, it's not a done deal yet Tom. I think blackhawk is somewhere close to $9k? Not entirely sure...

I don't know the rate for Blackhawk, but I thought Mike posted in another thread that Autobahn was $9200.

The dates look like it going to be on the weekend of June 19th to th 22nd. The 19th being the expect arrival date, 20th being the track day, 21st events TBA, and 22nd BBQ. So as soon as we get the exact info on the track we could work from there.
