I have a 1992 Maxima gxe and I need to replace the fuel injectors. I have 6 new ones to put one. I have a couple of questions.
I got the shop manual and began to tear into the intake. I got the throttle body off, and all of the vacume lines and was going to try and pull the upper plenum but it looked like I would also need to pull the lower one to pull the fuel rail. Is it true?
I drive the car everday but need to replace the injectors asap. Any ideas?

Once you remove the upper plenum, there will be a plate held by appox 8 allen head bolts. Once you remove those bolts this "horn" plate will come off and then you will be able to get at the injector caps. MAKE sure you have a good screw driver or better yet an impact driver to break the bolts loose.
Its a piece of cake job, I've done a TON of these injectors.
There is a paper gasket that goes between that plate and the upper plenum... and then there is a metal gasket that goes between the plate and the lower plenum. You need to replace both of them. Might as well clean up the EGR, IACV and TPS while you got all that apart. I am pretty sure you TPS and IACV need cleaning by now, once you do that you will find the car all the sudden has a TON of low end power.
My 91 SE Max can actually rip tires loose off the line w/o a problem- its auto also.

Thanks for the tip. Two of the injectors have been replaced in the last few years so I imagine the screws should not be that tight. I got new gaskets for the intake from autozone and also some new valve cover gaskets. My rear one has a small leak that comes and goes.

why go to autozone, when nissan ones are almost the same price if not cheaper........
and how about an introduction.

Autozone is close and convient. The nissan dealer is too far for me to drive to for gaskets. I'll do a intro!

Not at all, rather simple but time consuming. its good to have spare vacuum hoses (cut to fit) Along with carb cleaner :)
