It was a crisp spring morning. The sun was shining and the skies were clear. I owned my 03/SE for only two weeks. I was on the way back from the barber shop on Lake Street, approaching Villa Olivia. The light is Red and I come to a stop behind a Honda Civic. At first glance I see an aftermarket exhaust and half ass mesh job on the ground effects. As the light turns green I want to move from the left lane into the unoccupied right lane. As I signal and move to the right he starts accelerating as if I had offended him. As the road rage consumed me I dropped it in third and pressed the gas pedal. I start pulling away instantly as we accelerated to near 90 miles an hour. I began to slow down as we approached the bridge just before Shales Parkway and then the unbelievable happens..........To Be Continued.:banghead:

I looked in my rear view mirror to see the Civic and the flashing lights of a Illinois State Trooper. Not sure where he came from but he got on his loud speaker and told us to pull over. He ordered us not to try and run. At the bottom of the hill is Shales Parkway before Lake Street turns into a 55 mph highway through Elgin. I pulled into the long driveway first and the Civic behind me followed by the trooper. He first went to the other guy. Yelling and screaming that we were going to kill someone and demanding his keys. Then the same speech to me. He also said that he was going to tow my car, to which I explained that I would get it back and for him to do what was necessary. A second trooper came and drove up to my window while I sat in my car. He explained that I could give them 200.00 to bond out and I must appear in court at a later date. I agreed and was written a ticket for 87 mph in a 45 mph zone and drag racing. More later........ Gotta go.

If we were in Cali, you'd be saying bye bye to your car, paying $3k in tickets, and going to jail.

I would definitely invest in a radar detector, or even a jammer, once you get everything settled. Those things will pay for themselves.

Oh.....sorry, this happened almost two years ago. So here is the finale. I spent the 200.00 to bond out and went to court. I was given 10 days community service and charged 500.00. I also had to pay them 160.00 to work the community service. The first day of my service I go in and I see a friend I went to high school with. We were doing things like picking up trash in crappy neighborhoods and shoveling snow. On saturdays we we would have to wash and sometimes wax police cars. Not a whole lotta fun.

Please do more research. Radars are devices that help warn people. It is not 100% accurate, and you can still get busted. If cops use laser on you, you will be totally screwed. Jammer are completely illegal anywhere. Radars are not. I've been thinking of getting rid of mine because I rarely use it. I rarely speed anymore. I only use it to warn me about cops in burbs so i can lower my windows. :(

yeah....jammer are illegal and radar are like ehhh...if the cop "pops" you, it's over. The radar just tell you that you're screwed.
