On my way to work this morning, I'm approaching an intersection with a red light, in the right lane of a two lane highway. Shortly after the intersection, the right lane collapses into the left. In the left lane is a new Impala SS...we're rolling to the light at about 30mph and I notice the light about to turn green. I downshift into second and wait for the green light. As soon as it goes green, I hear him gun it and I floor it. I hold second gear all the way to 6K. I didn't walk the SS...I ran away from it! At 70mph, I had about four car lengths on him.

SS = Super Slow ?

You sure it was the V8? I know they're supposed to FWD, and that kills the car.

Not bad, the 303 HP Impala is not exactly a push over. What mods you got?

Positive that it was the V8. Two things kill it: 3,800lb curb weight and 4A trans

Mod list (perf.):

WSP Y-pipe
GReddy SP2 catback
High flow cat
PR WAI
00VI
TS ECU
B&M STS
5th gen clutch mated to a 00 5spd
17x7.5 SSR GT-1 rims w/ 225/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 rubber (lighter than stock)

Maybe if I was still an automatic, he would have had a chance as 30mph is somewhat of a dead spot for the 4A that came with the 4th gen.
