Hey what speakers would you guys recommend to replace the 6.5's in the doors of my 00Max?
That's what they are right? 6.5" round speakers?
I was thinking about replacing the stock ones and then a new head unit.

if you keep the oem amp than you have to get 2ohm speakers, so u should just get 4 ch amp and have much more choices

I'm going to replace everything, I need to decide on a headunit and speakers first. I'm gutting it all, Bose sucks in my 5th gen, but I really like it in my 4th. Does the 5th gen have 6.5" in front and back?

That's what I have right now in my 4th gen, I think they are pretty good quality, I may just go buy 4 and put them in the 5th gen.

BULL SH!T my stereo in my car sounds better than any home stereo. I spend more time listening to music in my car than I do anywhere else. I wanna be able to hear EVERYTHING in my car when driving- no noises or anything.
My choice for speakers:
Boston Acoustics - component series. I had those in my Maxima and they sounded awesome, powered by a large 50W RMS+ 4 channel amp with a dedicated mono amp for the sub and everything down to the cross overs controlled via the head unit. For subwoofer I recomend Eclipse or JL Audio, some Kickers sound very nice also.
In my VW I still have the stock HU and speakers by Monsoon, its a alright system for a car its size, and actually sounds good. I added a 12" Eclipse titanium sub in a sealed box with an Alpine V12 monoblock amp, on some tracks the bass will totally tear you up. The system is LOUD and I mean loud, I don't conteplate on changing anything on it but the HU because it does sound VERY good.
I don't like Infinity products, I had 1 set of Refference series and 1 set of Kappa components in my Maxima and both sets blew out- I still have the blown speakers at home. I also ran a set of 4x6 component Kappas in my old 93 SE-R and they blew out- got MB Quarts then. I just never have luck with Infinity. MB Quart and Bostons sound excellent, sometimes Tweeter has Bostons on crazy sale.... go check em out at ABT also !

Yeah, I just have a sony home theater setup in my house, it's pretty nice but about 8 years old, it's good enough for me, where I really want to have some nice **** is in my car. Particularly my new Max, I want to do it up right. I didn't really go too overboard with my 4th gen, and I wish I had gone bigger with the sub/amps.
And I definately spend more time in my car than I do sitting on the couch. And half the time when I'm sitting at home, either the Wonderpets, Spongebob, or that slut Dora the Explorer is on my tv. So my car is the priority for me.

if you're looking for a sub, there is a place like 3 blocks away from me where i bought mine, Kicker CVR12 for $100 with a box, that thing should be plenty, I think 10 would be enough for me.

Thanks, I may get a couple of 10's or a 12, I want some more bass for this one. I have time to decide, first I have to pick our a HU.

I had a 10" Kicker CVR DVC for a loooong time in my Maxima, then I got a set of 12" Eclipses off Ebay for DIRT cheap and kept just one.... but that 1 12" is waaay too strong for my little VW now.
Kicker sounded awesome thou, I still have it.
