I purchased some wheels and didn't want to deal with the TPMS light being on. Figured I'd post this info for anyone else dealing with a similar issues.
Purchased OEM sensors from Woodfield Nissan.
Had the sensors installed in my wheels but they did not register with the brain.
Went back to Woodfield Nissan and the parts guy reffered me to a service guy.
Service guy had the tech recalibrate my sensors and so far all is working.
So for a little under $400 my light does not come on and my tires are being monitored. I know what you are thinking..What a rediculous price to pay for a light to be off. But you have to ask yourself.....how much did you spend on your car? do you realy want to roll around town with an annoying light on? I didn't want to..... Now after all I went through, If I had to go through this all over agian, well I wouldn't. I'd just deal with the light being on. lol...but it's done and corrected and I'm happy...Just $400 in the hole...

ya my check engine light has never been off in my maxima or in my sentra before it .. I would get worried if something happened and it was to shut off .. the light doesn't bother me but I guess I could see how it would bother some .. 400 bucks though .. for 50 bucks i wouldve broke the bulb ..

It was a lot of money, but on a 2008 vehicle I don't want any lights on. I've had plenty of lights come on with my Grand Prix and my Ford. No need to roll around in the Max with this light.... But anyways, as far as your check engine light goes. I got a code reader. I'm not sure if it fits your vehicle but it's worth a shot. At least you can find out why the lights are on then decide if you want to fix the problem. I'll see if I can find it in my garage. I know it's there somewhere.

cus the new cars have the ecu running a tire pressure monitoring system which will throw the light nomatter what goes wrong with it..
shorting it out like a cheap polak is not applicable in this case. :nutkick:

You guys crack me up!!!! But seriously, if it were a POS then maybe I'd go the cheap route. But it's an 08 Maxima man...you gotta keep it clean. Plus what kind of warranty issues would I have if I shorted something out.

Maybe you don't see it that way Sebastian, but how many times you said ooo taking it to the dealer is a waste of time yadie yadie yada... I'm sorry but I work for a dealer and that is MY living.
I see Polaks coming in for service all the time, and when you write up a estimate the length of a friggn bible.... they don't buy SH!T and just TRY to fix it themselves. THEN they come back 2 more times saying we MIS DIAGNOSED it because after fixing the sh!t themselves the problem is still there- just had this. Well I'm sorry, I didn't fix it- I wanted to fix it but your jewiesh penny pinching azz TRIED to hack it up yourself. On top of that you stripped out the intake manifold taking it off- thats just an example of the BS I have to deal with.....
.... thanks to our fellow country men. Once they find out I am Polish, I'm even more fuked as they bug me with a million questions on how to fix a car.
I'm an azzhole, and I tell em- bring it in, pay 149 an hour to fix or take your azz elsewhere.

Ok what difference does it make to you if they have it done or not? you still get payed dont ya, i dont think u work on commission.... I have the EXACT SAME TYPE OF JOB.. except i go to the customer i HAVE to figure it out after 3 or 4 people have already f ucked with it...Plus u work on newer cars i have to work on mostly old **** that nobody has any schematic of anything... and do i give a s hit?? NO i dont.. i can care less if they want me to just find the problem or to actually fix it... they ask me for prices and discounts all the time.... And dont act like uv never dont anything like that either, ok everybody does it...
And yea taking ur car to the dealer for stupid s hit is a waste, you and I bitch about polaks all the time.... but at least (most of them) they try to figure it out before hand (even if they f uck it up) ... not like these ****en American maintenance people that replace burned out fuses with larger ones..... they might be a pain in the ass but at least they try.. the ones that are like what u describe are the ones that never had S HIT in poland and were broke off their asses , when they came here they saw some money and now they think they are some sort of big shots driving around in their rebuild title Mercedes...
Besides dealers rip people off..(not saying you do) there is NO honest dealership or service department anywhere... people know that and they dont want to get their s hit fixed there... plain and simple

acutally mechanics work on book hours. so if they diagnos a car and the polski says no...they dont get paid squat. so basically for all that question asking and what not, they dont get paid sheit for. thats why when i ask a mechanic a question. or ask them to help me out, i have to only ask the ones that like to help me out. not all of them do, because it takes money out of their pocket.
yeah polaks do the job themselves, but then they come back say the part didnt fix the car, bitch the dealer out and say its a faulty part. but what they dont realize is that when you put in a new part, most of them have to be calibrated to the car in order to work. its not as simple as it was with older cars. you have to set the DTC's with the oem computer, or else the problem will still exist and they still wont fix it. ive had so many people come back and bitch its not even funny. i tell them when i sell the part that it still has to be programmed by the dealer computer, and it cant be done by unplugging the battery. they learn it the hard way. when they put in a few hundo into parts that we not even bad. sucks for them, and it sucks for the mechanics too, because now they have to figure out wtf the customer replaced with new parts and wtf they hacked up.

Paul.. do they not get payed hourly.. (im not talking about the shop) im talking about a mechanic that works at a dealer... he works 8 hours let say... he does billable work for 2 hours.. the rest he sits on his ass and does noting... he STILL GETS PAYED FOR 8 HOURS.. does he not???
i think ur trying to explain that if an oil change takes 1 hour and the mechanic works 2 hours.. he can only charge 1 hour of labor not 2 even though he worked 2 or even 3 hours.. yea that is correct because thats what the book says....

I don't get paid to stand around, I also don't get paid for sh!t unless the car is fixed/finished. If I have to chase around a problem some polak fuked up..... I will be mad.
I stopped giving a fuk a while back, I just don't care. If you want help, pay.
Helping a fellow country man ? When was the last time they helped me ? When I go to their store, or when they come to do my drywall or what not- do I even have an option of a discount ? Hey they always ask for it.... there R no sales here. No coupons, no discounts.

they dont get paid hourly. if he does billable work for 2 hours and hes physically at the job for 8 hours. he only gets paid for 2 hours. like mike said, he doesnt get paid for dickin around or chasin sheit that was not supposed to cause a different problem.

I agree.. thats why i dont EVER get polaks to work on anything... the only ones i trust is the ones that have been in the country for 10+ years... cuz the money effect has worn off on them and they see that they actually have to do a good job or they are gonna get shafted on pay.... Americans do the same thing when they come over to do work at a polaks house.. they see that we dont speak english and they do the SAME thing..
Dealers dont give discounts on parts? First they overcharge you up the ass.. (im not saying you) then when they see that your not liking the total they adjust it.... happens all the time.. they make money on stupid people....

Hey guys, don't mean to interupt your party but I was talking about the TPMS Sensors (See the title). I know I'm a new member to this site, but I think it's immature to go back and forth about all that crap. You guys are simply stating your own opinions and experiences. Which you have a right to say, but maybe in your own thread. Or simply PM each other. Cuz now I have to go through useless comments to try and find what people have to say about the Sensors. And it's annoying to see people complain all the time.
So, besides all that mess, I have an update. The dealer recaliborated my sensors and the light turned off. Well last night it came back on. So I'm done with trying to fix this problem. I returned the sensors to the dealer for a full refund. I lost out on the cost of having them recaliborate them but I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned.....

well thats good that you didnt buy it from me then, becuase i would not return parts that were alreday installed on a car. basically its a no return policy on electrical or special order parts.
but kind of sucks that you have the light on now.

yeah, i must have checked the pressure a dozen times. It could have been due to the weather. it's just a safety feature that would drive me nuts (like it already has)...I think i'm better off without it. at least i know the light is on because i don't have the sensors in the wheels. better then having the sensors in the wheels and not knowing why the light is on..lol... i can check my own tire pressure...
