yeah we went out on a group ride after i was only ridng for a few days, really its not that hard you just have to remember to ride in your own lane and ride staggared.
yeah, i was thinking about gettin an R1 as well. but im up in the air with that one. im still up for the 600, but you get tired that it doesnt have enough balls. well, when everyone around has 1000's and they are leaving you behind.
oh, congrats on the bike marcin....we definatley have to cruise down there or cruise somewhere, i just have to get my bike first.
i am being serious, ride atleast couple seasons before jumpin to a liter bike
simple facts
mikes rc does 10.49 in the 1/4
07/08 600rr does 10.45
1000rr does 9.89
http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_street_bike_performance_times/index.html this is a little outdated but you get the idea
as you see, a .6 difference in the quarter goin from 10.4 to 9.8 is huge
but crusing around the city my buddies with 600 keep up no prob
biggest acceleration difference you see when u do 100 plus at wot
but that is not safe either way

take ur skirt off put your pants on
lets go cruise
remember, you dont have to go triple digits your first time, and you dont have to go fast through turns, ride WITHIN your abilities
usually i let the new riders in the front, this way we go at their pace
too afraid of gettin rear ended by a newbie, or him doin a ricer flyby in my lane
just want to get used to it. will be riding it most of friday, saturday, and sunday to get used to it. i pick up on everything fairly quickly. went from never skiing in my life to black diamonds in two days on the old school long straight skis. just setup a date and i'll see
had a friend who started out on an '01 R1 like three years ago and he did fine. just have to respect the bike. he only dropped the bike once and it was his own fault (went over wooden track that were wet and ended up lowsiding it)

When I was 19ish (if i remember correctly) I called All state, Geiko and State Farm. All the quotes I received for full coverage for a 600cc were INSANE. I could of bought a BRAND new bike every year... I believe it was All state that quoted me @ $10k a year... lol. The guy couldn't help but laugh. For lowest coverage, it was around $3k a year.
Lady told me, the smaller the engine the cheaper it is to insure it. And also cause I'm young.
Ketchup83se01

rob call statefarm. they quoted me $350 per year for a 05 yamaha R6. under my dads name and me as the secondary driver....cheapest i found. but you have to make sure that the bike is under your dads name.
edit***
inusance lady told me that being married or older is going to be cheaper. basically you take less chances because you have more to loose. young people dont care as much.
Ketchup83se01
07-30-2008, 06:06 PM
yeah i did call them but since i got 2 tickets under my name in the past two years they cant without the tickets its gonna be 517 full coverage for a year i think

oh, btw, forgot to mention.
i saw the bike of my dreams today....
a blacked out Yamaha R1, carbon fiber exhaust, fender eliminator kit, the single piece rear tailight with the blinkers, it was a 06-07 year by the looks of it. oh, with HID's. passed me up on higgins. well, i gave him the right of way. the thing was pure sex. i was going to drive to a yamaha dealer and pick one up.....forgot i dont have that kind of money.
but man, sounded sick as ****. i love that 1000 sound.....nice and suttle at idle, then a nice roar at wot. i got wet and hard.........

07-30-2008, 09:47 PM
oooo stop BS Paul, just go buy a damn bike already ! :P
Also, you won't believe it but I got 3K miles on the bike in like 2 months.... was just looking at pictures of the odo, and I listed it online last nite.... god damn I gotta change the oil on that bish. Half em miles are yours.................................
Yeah 1000s sound nice, but I like that V sound ;)
Greg is right, do not buy a 1000+ bike. You need to learn how to handle all that power. My bike for instance, not a 1/4 bike. I wouldn't want a 600 no matter what now.... simply because I would need to rev it to keep up with my RC at easy pace- worse gas mileage.
I got my new fairing in today !!! and I put on my fender eliminator kit......... man does she look SEXY !! Integrated tail light with LED stop, parkign and turn signals into just 2 little round lights. It looks great and works great too.
Clutch should be in any day now,
Next up, SATO Titanium exhaust system - full. CF hugger and front fender ;)

i got quoted for a $600 bike about $800/year with $500 deduct on a 600 bike... yea kinda pushes me away from that right now. this is from statefarm full coverage. i'm 22 with 2 out of state tickets but it shows up clean record =P

nice mike...yeah i know, ive used your bike a **** load. and damn, i feel bad and happy at the same time.
that undertail kit looks sexy. i wouldnt mind buying a bike now, but i know i can get them cheaper in the fall. and i know there will be great deals. i dont mind waiting, afterall, i still havent bought books for school, and car insurance is commin up in a couple months.

Dude fuk da car, get your bike so we can all roll.... get rid of that damn gas guzzler. I got this Honda Civic for 900 bux with your name all over it. You don't need no baller ****, just need to get a winter ride and then let your bike do the rest. Seriously I dunno how I am going to do w/o my RC over winter. Probably park it in my bedroom just so I can be like uuuuuuu ahhhh.
Going to change the oil on the Kawi, potential buyer lined up.
Maybe buy a GoldWing........ :duck:

there's always people who are willing to buy gasgusslers still. just gotta look for the people who have money but you might have to take a small hit when it comes to the price of it since a lot of people are selling their SUVs now

yeah u can get a credit union loan or bank loan, if you finance 5g thats like 100 a month
Ketchup83se01

but most of those small loans are gonna be really high in percentage and if my pops co signs for the honda i should get the 3.9 they are offering
DasTeknoViking
07-31-2008, 09:08 PM
See if your old man can get a personal loan ? Seriously thou.... used is the way to go man. You WILL want something bigger and you can most likely flip the used bike for more than you paid for it if you got a steal.
Also better to learn on an old bike than a new bike, like I mentioned before destroying a new bike sucks. Insurance will be cheaper on a old bike too !
walec05
07-31-2008, 10:08 PM
yeah rob.....take our advice and dont buy new. depreciation is a bitch, insurance is a bitch, and its a bitch if something happens to it. with a used bike, it costs you less, insurance is cheaper and if something happens to it, your not that pissed becasue you didnt spend 12 grand on it.
even with the bit higher percent, its going to cost you way less for a year old bike then it would for a new one.

took the bike out. rode back streets since i dont have plates or anything. put 15 miles on it and must say it's really nice. it's going to take me a bit to get used to it more but that's no surprise. hands are a bit sore though but read it's common. just gotta lift myself up off the bars more but i'll work on it later.

jw, greg, you avoid riding in the rain or after it pours, correct? why is that?
nice bike, marcin! congrats!
DasTeknoViking
08-01-2008, 07:31 PM
Reason for not riding in the rain- super slick streets. Especially now that its hot and humid out the road doesn't want to evaporate as quick. Its like riding on ice on wet hot pavement.
I rode to work today in the morning, the bike feels like its hydroplaning the whole time. Doesn't give you alot of confidence.
I guess this doesn't apply as much if you have some touring tires which are also designed with rain in mind. But when you own a sports bike, you don't put those kinds of tires on it !!! WTF is the point in that ?
Another quick tip, if you haven't done so- get some REAL gloves ! I just "upgraded" to some new Joe Rocket gloves yesterday, they have GEL padding on the grips where most of your hand sits and falls asleep. So far I rode back from work yesterday, and to work and back today.... 100 miles and my hands feel very good !
I got the gloves from LVC, I was picking up some oil and flush turn signals for my RC and decided to get new gloves. With these things I will be able to ride all the way till the snow falls down. They are nicely insulated.
BTW- nice Daytona Marcin, I always liked the way Triumph styles their bikes. I'm a big fan of the Speed Tripple !!! I like that hooligan look it has, I think it looks dead sexy. Never riden one of those machines, I hope she treats you well and doesn't give you alot of headaches. Hows the aftermartket for these things ? I imagine its not as big as the CBR,GSXR,Ninja.....
I need to try on a few bikes ;)
OH and still no fuqn clutch !!! I think some bad feedback will be left soon.....

thanks guys. i'm really happy to get it
well, i was just moving the bike out of the garage.
as for the aftermarket, all there. i dont know if it's as much as the other bikes but i still saw a lot. yeah, i've been working on gripping the tank more so my hands don't hurt but i want to focus on the ride first. didn't really grip it hard, just the position
walec05

weird, touring tires on my bike= rolling throttle burnouts all day
and in the rain tires take longer to warm up, so it is even more dangerous to ride
just look how slick your car feels in the rain

insurance and plates are due in sept, and my 6k tuition
then i have to find storage for the winter
i will also be switching to part time in my main job cause of school, so i will loose my benefits, health insurance etc
so i wanna sell it, then find something else maybe over the winter or as soon as i am able to get a ft position

With the clutch acting up AGAIN on my RC, I got the "new bike whoes" and ya....
So went to Chicago Cycle and Schaumburg Kawi.
Its between 2 bikes
07 Kawasaki ZX14 in black
08 Yamaha Raider.
Both of which I can have fun on, both different from what I have now.... AND I can bring a girl along for a ride, the ZX has tons of room for 2 riders.
I can't make up my mind, I need to try fixing my RC. I don't want anything else, I checked out all the new super sports and they are not what I like.
Raider is a killer looking bike, with 103lbs of TQ @ the wheel.... but I dunno how I could keep something like that outside. ZX- 200MPH bike, 9 sec 1/4 miles.... 3K cheaper.

Man it sucked riding back in the rain.... at 1st the tires are VERY slippery and then they change into some kinda rain mode and they grip like a mofo.
I got caught by a nasty downpour on I355 on the way home, wet as a mofo ! Then on I290 the rain seemed like it never even came there, so I was able to dip into deeeeeeep tripple digits to dry myself off.
Got a guy who wants to come out look at my Kawi.

They are NOT comfy bikes, they are bikes designed for the track. My RC actually took the title away from Duke 2 years in a row and then Honda stopped racing the RC and went with a CBR. RC is making a comeback next year, hopefully 200HP and I am in.

fast track and schaumburg honda do it like a t style patch/plug from inside
did 7k miles on the old bike and it held air perfect
there are guys that did track days with this and it held up
even if this fails, it takes a few minutes for the tire to get low, and the sidewalls are pretty stiff so u wont go from full air to riding on the rim in a second

oh, i thought it was just like a round patch or some****. like the guys said in the other thread. cars have 4 tires, so if one blows out you still have 3 that you ride on. bikes have two. eliminate one of them and you can dump the bike easy.
ive never seen one of those t style patches. hopefully i wont have to use one in the future, but who knows.

it is a plug with a hat on it that goes from the inside of the tire, so it wont come out under heavy load
even if it did come out, it would take couple minutes for the tire to loose pressure

plus if they do it right the plug gets glued to shiat in there

My buddy at work (rode out to Galena with us on his Harley, the slow old Harley) is selling his kids bike, its a

Its pretty simple, you take the rider's education class thats mentioned here somewhere.... and then when you pass it you start off on a small bike that is not going to kill you. You do not go out and buy a 12K dollar ZX10R that you WILL wrap around a tree on a 1st corner... you go buy something you can handle.
Do not let your balls do the thinking, think bout it.... bikes don't loose much value when you buy used, chances are you will MAKE or break even on the bike. Each year the big 4- Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki make KILLER bikes, they update them and go all out. Today you can go out and buy a killer machine (well besides the new R1, because its engine sucks) and you can't go wrong with either ZX10R, CBR1000RR, or GSXR1000.
My personal choice will be Honda or Kawasaki, I like Kawasaki because they are always on top of the game, and they are more "raw" power. Honda is always good at everything and its reliable. Never was a Suzuki fan to begin with, maybe its because they copy Kawasaki too much. It all started with the 1st superbike ever, the Kawasaki Z1.
http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Kawasaki_Z1_SERIES_900
Since my clutch woes are gone, I decided to hold onto my Honda.... if it wasn't for the fuggly looking front end of the new ZX10R with those really gheeey looking mirrors, that would be my weapon of choice. Explosive power, with razor sharp handling. But the new 1000RR looks VERY sweet, and it doesn't look too wild.
Next upgrades:
Exhaust- mine is damaged
Gold Marchesini wheels.
Gafler front rotors.
HRC pads in the front.
Ohlins suspension.

Hello,
I have received your email regarding my Honda CBR 600 RR. The bike is in perfect condition without any mechanical problems, with no damages,no engine problems, clear title and 701 miles. The price for the bike is $5,000.
Unfortunately, my life got complicated and I have to let this beauty go...The bike was my father`s as he loved it very much, but he did not enjoy it as he died in a Iraq 9 month ago. It brings very bad memories to me, I want to get rid of it. The buyer will receive the bike with all papers and receipts that he needs to register into his name. Anyway, I have to let you know that I want a fast deal so if you are really interested in test driving and inspecting the bike, please send me your full name and address.
The transaction will close only through eBay so we both will be protected. I want eBay because i want a safe and legit transaction.
Hope to hear soon from you so that we can move forward with this deal!
Let me know.
Thanks!

One of the guys at work got a 06 CBR600 with 2K miles on the odo from LVC for 5200 out the door. Black, fully stock. Bish is sooo quiet I can't even tell its running.
I went for a ride and I was REAAAAAAAAAAALLY dissapointed, I didn't get on it harder than 9K RPM because I had nothing on me (gear) but glasses. And since it wasn't my bike I didn't want to go all out crazy.
It feels nimble, handles good and brakes good- my brakes need heat to work, it has race compound pads.... but the power. WTF ? My Kawi had better low end and midrange. I jumped on my RC and was like ahhhh big block power ! I'm sure that the 600 screams on top, but seriously who da fuq rides like THAT on the street ? I don't want to be dropping the bike to 1st at 40MPH to overtake some car QUICKLY !
Need to ride my buddies 08 Busa to see if that thing has some low end power. I'm a low end/midrange power kinda guy. My bike is not lacking any top end, had a little roll on run with a Vette on 355 just now..... WTF are people smoking racing a BIKE ?

yeah, from my understanding the bikes are made to get revved. the 600's are nice because they dont burn too much gas if you trying to commute and get good mileage.
damn mike remember when i rod the kawi for a while. i didnt get on it, well only maybe a few times and i got mid 50's mpg. freakin sweet ****. i know with the R1 and the CBR1000rr ive read they only get upper 30's gas mileage wise.
if you need the power just drop down a gear and hit the power band, dont need to be in it all the time.

I don't think I will ever abandon the V-Twin, its got power that makes me really happy. Right off idle I got power, no weak spots, no need to drop gears down. Maybe das Y Ducati doesn't make any sport bikes with a inline motor..... and they win championships after championships.
V-Twin bishes. It sounds wicked, and goes wicked.

WTF are people smoking racing a BIKE ?
seems that newer bikes are all up-top with no to low power early-mid. it's why i got the 675. as close you'll get to a twin with the broad range of an inline. 3rd or 4th gear at 40mph and it still pulls hard

Yep, basically only bike I would rock now is a Ducati - but I don't want to buy w/o knowing what its like compared to my RC.
RC is fun, plain and simple. I love the sh!t out of it.
You guys with bikes wanna cruise this Friday evening ? Woman has to work late so I figured why not just go riding ?
