DasTeknoViking
04-17-2008, 06:01 PM
I would DEFF cruise sunday, but I dunno... its supposed to rain ? I need to bring the bike and the car home somehow. I did quite a bit of riding today already.... I might go to take my permit test tomorrow over lunch. Then go in on Monday or so on my day off to take my license test.

Oh yeah tire shine on the thread. Its Mr Clean on a bike as they put it now.

BTW- bike has absolutely no scratches, dings or anything on it. It looks like brand fukn new, other than 2 little scratches on the muffler can, it can pass for a new bike. It looks sexxxay actually, pretty comfy when you are just crusing around.... deff not comfy on you wrists and hands when you are crankn on it pulln wheelies. Guess I need to step it up and jerk off more to get my wrists in shape :gotme:

bike like that is easy to spot due to its color. You will realize that once some soccer mom driving her 5MPG Escalade ESV doesn't notice you in her blind spot and makes a pancake out of your kielbasa lovn azz.

Its going to look titz with polished wheels.

Toatlly agree. Rather be loud colored on a bike than to be an organ donor

so i went on a little drive today......

couple guys from the r6 forum dropped by this one guys house earlier today, and i happen to tag along with my yoda suv. basically one guy let me drive his 01 r6 around the block. let me borrow his gloves and extreamly tight jacket. it was an interesting ride....got it into 4th gear at about 60 down a couple blocks. was pretty cool. i couldnt manage downshifting and rev matching that well, so i had to almost come to a complete stop to downshift and roll on. but man, i really fukin want one like right now. i wished that this guys house was closer to my house so i could roll by the house with the bike and see what my parents would say.......

anyway, once they post the pics on the r6 board, ill post them up here.

i had a corbin on my old cbr that i bought used, it was just ok
the stock seat on the zx6r is very comfy
the 07 cbr 600 and 1000 they improved and added padding to the seat so its perfect

yeah, i know....i was looking at 07's just now. drove by a place. gonna talk to my pops and go check out a few 08's at chicago cycle. just to see what he says. got to go to circuit city anyway, might as well stop by and check out a few bikes.

they are only a few hundo more. and they are a little better looking and the crazy track technology is pretty sweet. the seat and handle bars are moved 5mm forward for a more agressive riding position and the bike is actually a bit lighter than the 07. well. im gonna go leave and check them out. later..............

walec05
05-04-2008, 01:17 PM
damn, them 08's are sick as hell. feel nice, although you cant really notice that much of a difference from the 07. and i thought it was a couple hundo more....shiet, the 08's are close to 10grand. damn. but you are paying for alot of Moto GP suff, like fully adjustable suspension, height wise, compression and rebound wise. thicker brakes, better and adjustable lever control. the seat is a bit more comfy, and the sides dont come out as much....like they managed to narrow the fram up a bit. good shiet, and its a bit lighter too.....

the sales man was like....i can get this OTD for under 10K. i was like, im not buying today, just looking.....hes like. how about 9.5K and you just sign here. im like. NO.....hes like well, ill throw in a free helmet, gloves and a yamaha jacket. im like. **** im just looking. and he continued and wouldnt stop. me and my pops just walked around and ignored him. looked at some cruisers, which my dad likes more.....and yeah.

Paul when I was looking at bikes I seen a few good offers on CL, and all of them ended up being some BS deal where the guy is in Africa or some other continent, he will "FedEX" me the bike overnite once he gets my payment etc....

Yep everyone has their prefference, but I just picked up a new Cycle Rider magazine and they have a review of the new Ninja 250.... I know most of you will be like "Zomg, noo iz pansy bike !!" Well it does 60 in bout as fast as a Maxima, runs 1/4 in faster time than majority of Maximas here. Its a perfect learners bike, it gets good MPGs and it can be had for bout 3200 bux NEW !!. It even looks like a genuine crotch rocket !

http://www.amadirectlink.com/news/2008/Ninja250R/gauges.jpg

Its available in Kawi Green too ;)

Figured some of you newbies would MAYBE be interested in this. Its enough bike to get you into trouble, and perfect for a 1st bike. And you can always resell it and not loose more than few hundred bux on it. Starter bikes like this don't loose much value, there always will be beginner riders looking for these kinds of machines.

Mr Grey

Ninja 250 is what most of you guys need. Afterall, you don't do wheelies, 150MPH on the highways and don't need a machine anything more than the Ninja 250 can do for you guys.

It looks like any other sport bike from todays era, most guys/girls won't know a difference.

hotbodiesracing.com

For your biking needs ! I highly recommend motoX ! free shipping on items. I got quotes of between 290-340 for a set of Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT vs 260 bux from them shipped ! haha well the thing with me is that, the 250 is around 4000 out the door brand spankin new, and i honestly dont need that much power.. maybe later on if i feel that i've grown out of the 250 i'll look into buying a stronger one, but for now, a 250 should be plenty... i cant even imagine going as fast as my maxima on 2 wheels... lol

but damn, with these price, im very tempted to pick up a bike.

my buddy has a chevy 2500hd pickup that gets like 8mpg. he decided to get a bike, for fun and for better gas mileage......what did he get, a freakin cruiser bike. probably not that good on gas mileage, but way better than that truck.

and it looks cool too. so, if i get a bike, all i want is better gas mileage than my current 15mpg in the city. if the thing got 25mpg, id be a happy camper.

my plan is to buy a bike in the fall, bring it home and leave it in the garage, install all the little things to make it look better (hidden plates, flush turn signals), and there's my bike for next year... the 250r is most likely what im looking at, unless i find a dropped bike or something with minimal damage for dirt cheap...

If there is ANY interest in this bike, let me know and I will ask him for sure. I hate to bother someone about something, then back out because someone had a change of heart.

He bought it used on Craigslist for like 1600 bux from what I gathered from our conversation today.

I was talking bout getting that new KILLER ZX10R that totally demolished the other liter bikes in this months Sport Rider comparison........ and he brought up the fact he wants one too and we went from there.....

He bought it used on Craigslist for like 1600 bux from what I gathered from our conversation today.

I was talking bout getting that new KILLER ZX10R that totally demolished the other liter bikes in this months Sport Rider comparison........ and he brought up the fact he wants one too and we went from there.....
liter bikes are kraaaaazzzzzyyyyyyy, no matter which one you get, all these 600/1000 are awesome, you have to be a real pro to push these bikes to the limit and see the difference, and then the difference is still small, within a second of each other
but i am stickin to my honda, ride with wings:)

I do agree, if I had my choice it would be between the Kawi and a Honda. I was never a 'Zuk fan, and everyone bitches about how krappy the power is on a R1.

Years ago my dads friend bought a Gixxer and the engine fell apart on him on the way home from the dealer.... they gave him a new bike and then the tranny fell apart. He got a cruiser instead after the tranny went out........ cruiser seized up on him at like 2K miles.

I worked on Suzuki cars.... they where nothing special, and always ran rough and didn't last too long- atleast the trucks didn't.

I had a Kawi jetski that was beat to sh!t, floated in the middle of lake dullton in WI Dells for 30 min upside down.... I mean everything was done to this jetski- it still ran fine ! My friend has one too STX1100 and that fuker was just as reliable.

I guess I am partial to Kawis, and Honda- well I work on them for a living, Power of Dreams mafakaz !

you only hear minor complaints on the power of the R1. i have to agree with you, its not the most powerful liter bike. you can see it when they race on the circuit. yamaha seems to qualify first or second, but then cant hold the leads. honda just has a better engineered motor i guess. but for the 600 class, the yamaha is like a gold nugget in a field of rocks.

BTW ZZR600 is basically what I have, Kawi got more serious in the later years and decided to keep the comfy ZX6R and turn it into a ZZR600. I seen a few of em around.

yea, that's what i've been reading from the reviews. it's really the one that caught my eye and what I want to shoot for but I'm going to take the class first and go from there.

ok, question for all you people who are actually riding already... what gear do you have?

Jacket - is it textile, mesh, leather? which brands do you like

Pants- do you have specific riding pants or do you mainly just wear jeans or something? also if you wear jeans do you wear and protection under?

Gloves- motocross style or gauntlet style? which brand do you prefer? or do you even wear gloves?

Helmets.. i'm pretty sure you all just have the full face helmet... so i wont bother with that

last but not least, where did you get all your gear? where are the best prices at?

DasTeknoViking

Joe Rocket leather jacket here, along with Joe Rocket carbon fiber knuckle guard gloves, jeans and good pair of shoes.

I'm going to get another jacket soon, the one I got was given to me with my bike... its not in the best shape but its better than nothing.

Helmet- full face, make sure you get a DOT rated one minimum, but SNELL is recommended as if you EVER where to go to a track, they require SNELL rating. Snell is a higher than DOT rating, and when it comes to safety....... it is ONLY your dome you are protecting so yeah.

Recommend: Shoei, Arai, HJC for helmets.... HJC are on the cheap side but they are very good helmets. Arais can cost up to 1K bux for some fancy design, and most are around 4-600 bux. Most HJCs top out around 200 unless you want some crazy carbon fiber one. I paid 180 for mine on sale- HJC.

Best place to get gear ? I will post some places soon.... I'm going to be shopping around for new ridding apparel. Its all via mail order places who advertise in the back of magazines.

Kinda pissed off cause my bike fell on its own today.... my parking spot had a car parked in it that leaked oil and caused the asphalt to get brittle. Well my kick stand sunk in the asphalt and the bike fell. Got a small rash on the left fairing and it bent my clutch lever. I tried to bend the lever back and it broke ! My luck Kawi dealer is right down the street and they even had the lever in stock for 20 bux ! I was out riding around today :)

No I am not selling it, but I do have a older THH helmet thats DOT approved and in very good shape. I used it when go-karting, road racing etc. So it doesn't have any damage to it.

I think you are going a little overboard on safety.... I know its a good thing to be safe, but you are sacrificing alot of comfort. I wear a helmet because its more comfortable for me, I am bald so for some reason my ears catch ALL the buffering air and I am death after a short ride.... plus I always have a running nose afterwards !

These guys have alot of closeouts and you can find a decent deal from them. I might be ordering a rain suite and some protective textile pants.... leather is nice, but you will cook on a bike in rush hour traffic during the summer.

Rain suite would be nice, I just came back home wet from a small rain storm I got stuck in...... had to go fix my clutch handle after it broke on me from yesterdays fall- then I was anxious to go ride :bolt:

Since I have a tinny scratch on my bike now from its fall.... its not bad but I hate blemishes, I was thinking of getting the whole bike wrapped. Its about 100 bux to do it and they got all kinds of other finishes too.

i was just thinking of getting knee covers for the begining so i dont have to buy protective pants.... i dont see whats wrong w/ jacket, helmet, gloves and knee braces... better safe than sorry... lol the more and more research i do on bikes, the more stories i come across where the gear saved their asses so yeah.. pretty much sold on blowing a lot of money on some gear

yeah, andy. i wouldnt be cheap on a helmet. ****, its your head that your protecting. if i need to pay $400 for it, i will. i dont want to, god forbid, fall off the bike and have the helmet not do its job because its made cheaply.

and yeah, ive got my red dot approved helmet that im going to use for the class. its in ok shape, i will only use it for class, never riding on the road. its the one i use for karting.

Dave I didn't mean you should ride with no helmet or anything.... but the knee protection as nice as it is, is very uncomfortable especially when its hot outside. I feel like I am baking inside my gear when its over 80F outside. I still ride with helmet and jacket on all the time.

Andy, check out my helmet sometime. I guess we where going to have some kinda nite out sometime this week for a BBQ or Hooters. I will bring along my helmet for you to try. Then you can wrap it in a skin if you don't like the way it looks. Its a pretty nice DOT approved helmet.

Also, Shoei, Arai, HJC.... are all quality helmets. Make sure you get a SNELL 2005 certified dome protector, that standard is much higher than DOTs. Cheap helmets don't pass it. My THH helmet is a good helmet but its not Snell 2005, I bought it 7 years ago ! Its in like new shape, doesn't stink like most helmets do. I treat my goods right ! Bish cost me 200 dollars back then.

ahh ok, thats why i was wondering if you knew anyone with the knee protectors, was wondering if it was comfortable or not.. looks like just jeans for me... lol

mike why not look into a armored mesh or textile jacket? i'm sure it will be a hell of a lot breathable than your leather...

DasTeknoViking
05-26-2008, 10:20 AM
I do have a Joe Rocket breathable jacket, its partially leather and partially textile. So when you are riding you get quite a bit of ventilation. When you are parked thou- like in traffic, you are baking in the sun !

I'm going to get a pair of pants soon. I have a small list of things I want to buy for the bike and for riding the bike, but I spend WAY too much this month on my vacation etc..... I need to space it out a bit.
