I have 46678 Miles on my car and the Service Engine Soon light came on..
Seems like the car drives fine but any idea what could be wrong???
Is it ok to drive on until Monday?
I have the best extended warranty for my car so it should be covered ..
Paul do u have any idea?

Bad gas cap?
rarely go bad on newer nissans. its probably the vent control valve on the canister, but eh, its a maxima....anything can go wrong.

I took my car to auto zone and the code said it is the cat converter. I have an appt on monday with the dealer.
What does the cat do anyway?

The funny thing is that if you left your gas cap loose after say filling up, your light can go on. Make sure it's tight, there's a certain amount of miles you need to drive before it goes off, i can't remember what it is.

yeah, thats true. but it wont give a catalist code. it will give a emissions code like. evap system leak or no pressure in evap system....something like that.

Maybe true. This is the wierdest of recent time.
I guess I figured the founder of CMC would know a touch more about the ole auto-cars.
