So i have a quest that has a hard time starting after its been sitting for a while... i checked the plugs and distributor and cap they are ok... tb is clean.. i bought a new coolant temperature sensor and its not the problem so 30 bucks down the drain..

the car starts but black smoke pours out the tailpipe and you obviously need to give a little gas to start the damn thing...

i did notice gasoline in the fuel pressure regulator hose that connects to the intake manifold for vacuum.. now i did have the same exact problem with my old car and it was the FPR.. i just dont wanna spend any more money..

so i guess my question is... is there supposed to be gasoline in the FPR vacuum hose??

distributors go bad on those cars all the time.

check that out first. see what you find.

disconnect the FPR, plug up the vacuum hose.

Watch for any fuel leaking out of the FPR nipple.
