So I left my car at work over the weekend and it got broken into....
All my car stereo stuff is gone, broken rear side window along with the small window, dashboard all messed up, center console is all ripped up also....
Anyways I do not have recepits for the stuff I had in my car cause it was eighter purchased VERY long time ago, or on Ebay. I have State Farm insurance with 0 deductible on theft/comprehensive.
How does this work ? Anyone experience anything like this before ? I am waiting for a special "audio adjuster" to come out as the claim will be over 2K dollars if not more.
Friend of mine told me she had her 2 bicycles stolen from her apartment once and all the insurance wanted to know is what kinda bikes they where and how much they where new.
Does insurance on a car work the same way ?
My Alpine Deck is stolen, XM Alpine receiver with TREK antenna missing, SirriusConnect receiver is missing, 1 12" Eclipse Titanium DVC sub w/box missing, Alpine V12 4 channel amp and V12 Monoblock both missing, BlueTooth mirror that I just got a week ago- gone, my wireing is all jacked up and they even stole the climate control unit ! Needless to say these thiefs where hacks as they couldn't figure out how to disable the OEM alarm in my car (thanks to the grounding kit for the engine !)....
I am not pissed that the stuff is stolen, but I am mad that the window and dash are all messed up.... I haven't been driving the Max in 2 weeks now as JIC is "rebuilding" my rear coilovers for the 6th+week now. I was rebuilding a engine on a BMW at work and didn't have the room for the Max so I left it outside....
Anyone have any clue bout what I am going to see with State Farm ? Am I in "Good hands" ? I will try to get some pics of the interior maybe tomorrow.

woahhhhhh this sucks big time.....hope everything will be back to normal in the end. Hopefully they'll give you money for everything. I got my car smashed when i was away and they gave me money to fix it all up, even 600 for one hid :D. It's not the same case, but i hope everything will work out in the end.

So, I think it was by someone who knew you had that stuff. I hope you get all your shit worked out. From what I read, ins. companies can be a bit iffy if you don't have receipts.

statefarm is straight. i had some suff stolen from my car. they just asked me to write down the name of it. eg...pioneer, sony, audiobahn. and so on. if you remember everything that was stolen they will help you out ok.
oh and make sure you get a report of some sort, and take pictures. they really want pics to prove the suff.

Well the local Naperville PD came out, took pictures of everything, and even ran fingerprints on the car. They didn't want me to touch ANYTHING on the car till they got done with doing their thing. I watched them for approx 20 min or so and then I just went back to work doing my normal thing- hacking up some Acura.
I do not have pictures of my stereo, I do have pictures of my old setups but I never bothered taking pictures of all the other stuff that was in the trunk, under the seats etc.
You can clearly see that there was a big system mounted in the car as there are wires exposed everywhere now- as they got ripped out.
My thing is I don't want them thinking that I had some cheezy DUAL radio from Best Buy with a Jensen box in the trunk and some Jensen amps you know. I know if I was the insurance company I would be really hesitant to belive that someone had 2-3K dollars worth of stereo in their car. But then again my car isn't some rust bucket Ford Tempo eighter.... so maybe they will be on my side. Right now I am not sure as to what is going to happen, lucky enough for me I have my Q to drive around in as things get settled with the insurance company.
Dave, I started to belive the same thing as you are thinking.... people at my work know that I have a system in my car. I don't sit there at work pounding it or anything to show off, its never even on ! I don't have any enemies at my work as I tend to help out everyone from porters to managers.... its kinda hard to belive for me that someone I work with could have done this, but it doesn't escape my mind that it most likely is someone from work.
Only thing I have left is a box from my BlueTooth mirror that I just bought online few weeks ago- its in the back seat, and the face plate case for my Alpine head unit.... plus tons of messed up wireing all over the car.

Damn hopefully you get all your stuff back brand new AND installed by a professional free of charge :) I'm really amazed at how suburban cops kill time time by actually running finger prints and taking pictures as it was a murder scene. I bet Chicago police wouldnt even bother to look at the car..shows how bored suburban cops are..sometimes its a good thing.
Good look man.

Car insurance won't cover amps, only the radio that should " fit " inside the car. When my car was broken into they took a lot of shit.... The only thing that would cover is my radio, car arlem, and damage they did.
No amp or anything in the car....

if you can PROVE that it was a permanent fixture of the vehicle they should cover it.
if not you may have to go through your homeowners insurance policy.
but state farm usually plays straight, it's all state that just fuking lied to our neighbor and cost my uncle a BIG job and probably me a kickback :(

i also believe that it was someone at you work. they know your schedule and they knew exactly where the car was. can you possibly get camera footage of the parking lot, i know the dealerships have cameras galore. try to ask the dealership manager. he should help you out. good luck.

Sorry to hear Mike. I hope they catch the assholes that did that. I think Allstate should take care of you. Good luck!

I am getting all my car audio repleaced by the insurance company without any problems really. I need to take the car to the body shop tomorrow for all the body damage estimate- not much damage but I wanna have it all done anyways.
I might actually get alot of nicer stuff than I had originally as some of the stuff is old and nolonger made... stereo wise.
