Video (2.5L w/AEBS header, custom cat-section, Stromung cat-back):

From what i read online, the Stromung is a bit quieter and sounds better with a header (less raspiness). The stromung is designed alot like the Cattman is on the Maxima.

My Thoughts:
-HKS better bang for the buck
-Stromung looks sleeper
-I think stromung would sound better with a header
-Both are highly praised on the forums

I'd go with the Stromung. My experience with HKS is that their product is quality, but their exhaust are really bassy. It gets old after a while.

BTW, do you get any real power out of an exhaust? Not being a jerk. Just wondering if the stock exhaust is anything like the exhaust on a 5th gen where it has a butterfly that opens at full throttle. The 5th gen exhaust N/A is good for headers, and it not restrictive. Maybe you could do the same setup.

Either way, going with the Stromung would be my 'sleeper' choice.

From what I remember, the B15 shares the muffler with the 5th gen. No extra "power" will be made, but i think it will enhance the look and sound.

I just figured get a quality header, and keep the stock muffler for looks. Spend the extra cash you save from the exhaust, and use it on those JDM wheels you keep talking about. :D

so its 365 for a catback, and 370 for the axelback? am i reading this right?

Stromung makes Cattmans exhaust. I think the reason to change your exhaust would be RUST. Nissan mufflers dont last too long. So I bet its bout to fall apart.

not this year....if they salt like this every year, exhausts would last a life time. but body damage would kill the car more quickly.

I really don't mind it, its a full catback unlike the stromung and it looks pretty damn good. Its not a ricer muffler, its fits nicely and has a nice tone to it.

My exhaust is holding up alright but I'm sure after this winter or next it will be rusted through. The flex pipe on the other hand is almost ready to go.

I see many 5th gens with aftermarket midas exhausts on them rolling around. The car is 8 years old at the oldest, shit will rust out. Don't make any diff its a VW or a Nissan, it will rust out.

Benz won't rust thou. They use special steel that the Panzer tanks from WWII under Hitler's regime used.

Btw, I agree with some of the guys on spending the money on exhaust...I'm sure you can pick up a a vq35 for a few bucks more...and then for your bday or savings account you can get a 6spd tranny :)

And several thousand in parts later, i would have a 220whp oil burning machine with a notchy transmission :hide:

If i ever considered a swap, it would be a VQ30DE-K, bolt it straight up to my trans :)

But on a serious note, ill be driving this car for at least another year or two, an exhaust should provide some entertainment without braking the bank (as well as some wheels im looking for).

If I was to pick between the two I'd choose the Stromung. I had a HKS on my old max and didn't care for it. Hated the look and disliked the noise after a while. Personally I wouldn't buy an exhaust for looks or sound again. Kinda pointless but thats because been there done that type of thing applies

Stromung has my vote....looks better and sounds a bit better to. probably a lot better quality as well.

That's what I was thinking aswell, so Stromung it is! First I need to take care of my SES, which should be taken care of today or tomorrow. Once I have that done and the streets clear up, I will order the Stromung axleback :)

Used for 3 months, found it on b15sentra.net. There is a small flat spot on the bottom of the tip because he had backed into a curb, but otherwise its mint.

it will stay looking that way for a long time if you keep it clean. clean it with wheel cleaner and spray with a spray-on wax and it will look brand new even through the winter. mine has been through 2 winters and it still looks like i just got it when i clean it.

Something that was mentioned earlier? Stop wasting bandwidth.

Back on topic, driving to work yesterday I heard a weird noise. After inspecting around the car, my stock heat shield is hanging and rubbing against my exhaust piping. Great timing, when swapping exhausts i will probably cut the fucker out.

Alright so I put it on today, bolts weren't as rusted as my friends 06 Altima. They appeared very rusted, but once they were heated up they turned without a problem. I did manage to break 2 of them at the axle back, but they were a smaller size so they probably weren't as strong.

Exhaust tip seems rather large, probably because the car is soo small. Its very quiet at idle and cruising speeds, haven't taken it onto the highway yet but I am sure it will be almost as quiet as stock. No rasp what so ever, sounds very throaty. Overall, I am extremely happy. Haven't had a chance to really open her up, will try later this week when temperature is 40+ and the roads are clear.

BTW, local homo came home from work and took the car for a spin. I guess he really liked it, because he had to take it for another round. He said something about the car reminding him of his corvette, idk.

Pictures and Clips coming soon!
