Actually it's true. He may have owned the 99SEL but he wasn't particularly fond of the color.

I've been dying to get into a b14 SE-R for a while now. I'm at my wit's end driving the family minivan around. I actually missed out on a beautiful red 96 SE-R that spent its whole life in CA and TX, lady was giving it away for $1500 because it needed a rear brake job. Unfortunately, it was in St. Louis and I couldn't get down there fast enough to get it.

So now I'm considering an SE, if I could get the person on craigslist to email me back. I think it's my love for the white color that is making me compromise and get an SE instead of an SE-R. I had a 92 Sentra SE, the GA16 wasn't THAT bad. Plus an SR20 can always be dropped in later...

Ah ha... I checked my email after writing my last post here, got a reply from the seller. Might have me a b14 sooner than I thought. Unfortunately, this one needs a transmission. Fortunately for me (sorta), I've done a manual trans job on a GA16DE 3x before. Now I just gotta get lucky and find another perfect 5-speed trans in the U-pull-it yard like I did last time.

if you need a trans and have no luck at local junkyards like i did, check out http://www.rockauto.com/... they are up near WI and they gave me a 1 year warranty on it...

then again, you can take the current trans apart and rebuild it... it has been done several times on here IIRC...

Yeah, I considered rebuilding my trans when it grenaded in my 92 b13. Got the case apart, showed it to my father-in-law... he told me to just go get a JY trans. I had a helluva time finding one though, through pre-pulled yards. Ended up just getting lucky and finding a 95 Sentra in the U-pull-it yard, complete trans cost me $90. Was quite a gamble (considering the car appeared to have been used as a race car, pic below) but the trans was perfect.

Got some more info on the car for sale, I guess only gears 3 and 4 are bad, 1, 2 and 5 work just fine. At least it sounds like I can drive it home, and maybe that's a good sign for rebuilding.

(love the Scrubs GIF)

Got the 200sx home last night, got the price down to $840. I probably overpaid for a car that needs its transmission torn out, but you know how it goes when you find JUST the car you want.

Overall seems like it'll be a good ride, just needs a major detail (inside and out), trans fixed, some exhaust work. Front bumper is slightly detached and scraped, but nothing major. Feels awesome to be back in a go-kart!

looks pretty clean, how many miles?
they tent to rust on the rocker panels by the front fender

111k miles, and yeah, overall pretty clean. Some minor rust on the lower rockers, and a small amount on the bottom of the A-pillar inside the passenger door. Definitely a lot better than some b14's I've seen. She should clean up nicely. Even with only 3 forward gears, it's nice to drive a stick car again.

yeah clean it up so the cancer aka rust doesn't spread
put on an ebay header, it will make a nice diffeernce
I ran the pacesetter on mine, cheap but worked

I thought about getting one of those cheap headers when I had my 92 Sentra. This car should be a little more long-term, so perhaps I'll get into fixing it up a bit more. I'll definitely put a stop to that rust, I'm really glad it's down low so I can fix it myself and not worry about it looking absolutely perfect. Would be a different story if it was rusting around the rear wheel wells or something like that. A 97 SE-R just showed up on CL, rear wheel wells rotted out, tons of electrical problems, $1200. I'll take my $800 SE over that nightmare.
