By request, this thread has been made to educate, and inform people of many different brands out there. We have all had different sets of tires, and experiences both good and bad with tires. It is up to the individual to make up their own mind.
Please post the following specs, and review of each tire. In my experiences I have noticed that size matters in tire performance.
Brand:
Size:
Road Noise: Scale (1-5) 1= Quiet / 5 = Noisy
Miles driven on them:
Driving style: (Spirited/Cruising)
Type of tire: All Season/Summer Only/Winter Tire

Brand: Falken Azenis 615
Size: 225/45/17
Road Noise Scale: 3
Miles driven on them: 5,000
Driving style: Spirited
Type of tire: Summer Only
Additional Comments: I had these for about a month last year, and it's def one of the stickiest tires I have owned. It is a pure performance oriented tire. The sidewall is pretty stiff...easily noticed from my CDs skipping but that might have been reduced with less tire pressure. They were a lil noisy on concrete but quiet in asphalt. Frankly I bought them to carve up some backroads and held their own VERY well. When I was purchasing them I read reviews of them lasting only 15k, and these tires being the closest thing to competition rubber for the streets. I would recommend them because they cost me $109 each vs $145+ for every other summer only tire...keep in mind they're stiff.

Kumho Ecsta ASX
225/50/17
road noise is good i guess : 2
miles driven: 20-30K
Driving Style: spirited
Type: all season
price : $71 ea. from TireRack
bought them in late 07 early 08, and just now they are getting down to wear bars, for price won't find anything better. they provide really good traction in wet or dry. good enough for winter in Chicago when they clean streets, but would not recommended for trips where there will be snow. Sideways traction in snow is horrible
Sidewall might be too soft for some people @ 30 Psi but ride is smoother(no passengers), but when up to 34 handle very nicely and responsive.
Brand: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Size: 225/45/17
Road Noise: 2
Miles driven on them: 10K
Driving style: Mixed
Type of tire: Summer
Incredible grip and longevity. Pricey though.
Brand: Toyo T1R
Size: 245/40/18
Road Noise: 2
Miles driven on them: 5K
Driving style: Mixed
Type of tire: Summer
Take all the good things of the GS-D3 and kick 'em up a notch. In addition, they're cheaper.

Brand :Falken Azenis RT615
Size :225-40-18
Road Noise :1 VERY noisy when they get worn out
Miles driven on : 15K miles
Driving style : highways
Type of tire : Max Performance Summer.
Its a good sticky tire when new, but once it gets over half worn it starts to get very noisy and grip tends to slowly go away. Not too good in the rain due to its tread design, and don't be caught in the snow with these on or you are dead meat. Good AutoX tire.
Brand : Toyo Proxes4
Size : 225-40-18
Road Noise : 8
Miles driven on : 10K miles
Driving style : Aggressive mixed driving
Type of tire : All season.
Very good tire at a very good price, its got VERY good traction in the snow and in the wet. So good I don't feel the need for any kinda snow tire. Its also a very quiet tire and its very pothole proof. I have cracked a rim and thats when the tire got a bubble. Compared to Kumhos that bubble over pebbles on the road, these are excellent buy.
Brand : Pirelli P-Zero
Size : 225-40-18
Road noise : 2
Miles driven : 5K miles
Driving style : mixed but mostly highways
Type of tire : Ultra High Performance All Season.
Very bad tire, It came with my car and had plenty of tread life left.... traction in the snow was just pathetic. One of the tires developed a huge lump on the INSIDE and almost blew out on me. No traction in the rain, and was VERY noisy. I recomend you keep clear of Pirelli tires.
Brand : Michelin Exalto M/S XGT
Size : 205-60-15
Road noise : 10
Miles on tires : 10K
Driving style : City
Type of tire : All Season
I bought these for my moms car to replace her old, dried up Falken Ziex 512s that where on there for only 20K miles. These tires according to my mom are nothing like the car has ever had, they are simply the best. I got them for her last year before Xmas and she says they rock in the snow, and I have driven the car (2000 Altima) many times and the tires are quiet, and provide plenty of traction in both rain, snow. Kinda pricey, but considering the last set of tires only lasted 20K before it dry rotted out.... Michelins are quality bar none.

mike, 2 things, first i think you're mixing up the noise scale.
second, about the kumho tires and bubles, you may have had bad experience with some but ASX i have are very solid, i do have one bubble but thats from one huge pothole, i thought my wheel was going to fall of, and i will be checking my wheel bearing b/c of that
that leads me to the question how can wheel bearing be checked

I have never put Kumhos on ANY car I've owned.... I've had many diff brands over the years. I seen enough failures in the past on my friends cars all the time... Ecsta 711/2 was just complete rubbish.
I didn't see the scale... I rated 1 as noisy and 10 quiet as a sin. Sorry no Edit button.

Brand : Yokohama Avids
Size : 205-60-15
Road noise : 1.5
Miles on tires : 25k
Driving style : City/highway
Type of tire : All Season
These were my first set of tires i ever bought for a car, well i actually got it used from Ty back when his 4th gen was an auto. But none the less, it was is a great tire. still racking up the miles on it. i think its about 30-40% now with my dad. Great all around tire, no problems in light snow, never had a spin out or much wheel spin at all. Price was great used or new. Great budget tire. I'm sure most can make 60k if not more on these. Drove great thru snow storms in michigan.

buuuump, i know you guys have some opinions about tires, so c'mon don't be shy :)

everyone always has their own opinions...
Mine are as follows:
Goodyear (any model) HATE THEM.. won't use them on purpose (they've come on a few cars I bought but I got rid of them FAST)
Kuhmo: never used them (not even the race rCompounds) so no opinion
Michelin: no thanks, they dry rot too quickly and are overpriced IMHO
Falken: Couldn't stand the 512s I had at one point (hated them so much I sold them with less than 1000 miles of use) ...had Falken Azenis too for about 2 months and sold them fast too.. don't see myself buying Falken again anytime soon.
Bridgestone: Had very good experiences with several models
BFG: Used to use their R1 Rcompounds and loved them, haven't tried the new Rcompounds yet. Had their street tires ONCE and had problems with them not holding a bead and I got rid of them and never tried another set for the street after that.
Pirelli: Had them on my porsche from the factory.. noisy as hell after 10k miles but they worked.. too expensive for me to buy again though.. didnt' like how they dry rotted after 3 years old.
TOYO: Really love the Toyo RA1 for track use and went through about 7 sets last year.
and that's all I can think of right now

Brand: Fuzion Hri
Size: 205/55/16
Road Noise: 3. quiet when driving normally, they get a little loud when pushing them.
Miles driven on them: maybe 15k?
Driving style: mix of crusing and the occasional auto-x or driving like a mad man
Type of tire: All Season
A damn good tire for cheap. they are warrantied for 40k iirc. firestone was having a sale and i picked up all 4 mounted and balanced for 320ish. they handle pretty good in the dry, but kicks most all seasons asses in the rain. they are decent for auto-x...if you like sliding everywhere. they can be driven in the snow, and they will give you decent grip, but nothin like having a set of designated snow tires. heck with 15k on them, they still look like new.

bridgestone pole positions = ftw! (and at over $200 a tire, they better be)
quiet, great traction... summer ultra high performance tire...

Brand: General Exclaim UHP
Size: 215/55/17
Road Noise: 2. very quiet tires. went from oem which were loud as hell to these. heard more wind noise than tire noise. .
Miles driven on them: around 17k
Driving style: Anywhere from normal driving to pushing them really hard, especially on runs such as the wisconsin one
Type of tire: All Season but some sites claim they are summer
Great tires for the price. was able to push the Altima to new limits on these tires and some of the people at the Wisconsin cruise were amazed at how my car handled stock and it was just because of these tires.they're very smooth and quiet and a great buy if you're on a budget. I know they state that they are all-seasonal but I would not recommend them in the snow. I don't know if it's the tire or if i'm just used to winter tires but they had below so-so handling in the snow. Very aggressive tread and they did great in wet weather. barely experienced hydroplaning and when i did, it was for less than a second or two even at speeds of 60mph+.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Brand: Hankook Winter iPike W409
Size: 255/60/16
Road Noise: 3. Very quiet for winter tires. they were near silent when i put them on after the OEM tires.
Driving style: regular driving with some aggressive driving.
Miles driven: about 28k
Type of tire: winter
amazing tires for the price. they were performance winter tires and handled exceptionally well for what they are. very quiet too. tread is deep with lots of slits which worried me since we were going to Colorado that year but they were quieter than my all-seasonal.
never had issues in deep snow with them. this year, it dumped 2 feet of snow in Colorado and everything from cars to trucks were getting stuck and the Altima made it out with no issues. I was regularly able to pull away from cars with AWD at stop lights. in dry and wet conditions, they still handled great and only gave up a little bit of handling when pushed hard compared to my Exclaim UHP tires.
Brand: Kuhmo ASX
Size: 205/60/15
Road Noise: Scale (1-5) 2.75
Miles driven on them: maybe 8-10K~ negative camber ftw!
Driving style: Spirited
Type of tire: All Season
i love these tires. they hook up in dry weather, and handle snow/rain pretty good. Sidewalls are pretty soft, but they are still responsive. Tires are soft, and wear quick. Overall , amazing tires for the price.

Brand: Bridgestone Potenza REO50's
Size:245/50/17 - 225/45/17
Road Noise: Scale (1-5) 3.4
Miles driven on them: 5k~
Driving style: Spirited
Type of tire: Summer Only
These tires are expensive, and noisey. I spin them in 2nd :( They are pretty stiff, dont wear as quick as the kuhmo's. These tires are alright i guess, I just dont think the're worth the price.

Brand: nitto 555, the street tire, not the dr
Size: 245/40/18 on 18x8.5rota 235/45/17 on 17x7.5 enkei
Road Noise: Scale (1-5) 2
Miles driven on them: about 1k on the 18s, about 1.5k with the 17s
Driving style: crusing/mixed on the 18s, hard 400+awhp beatings(DSM)
Type of tire: summer
i originally didnt liek the tire the first tiem i took it out cause it communicated differently than i was used to, i was used to a lot of noise before breaking the limits, the nittos are really quiet right up until theyre just about to lock up or slide. and even when theyre being tortured theyre still rather quiet. grip is amazing, no review on tire life tho, i dont have enough miles yet. they do seem to brown easier than most of my other tires tho, just fyi.
Brand: mt dr's
Size: 275/40/17
Road Noise: Scale (1-5) 3
Miles driven on them: about 250maybe
Driving style: theyre dr's what do u think?
Type of tire: dr
mounted on a set of 17x8 enkies. run at about 30psi since i was just playing with them on the street for testing, havent run them since i put on alot of my mods or tuning so i was maybe pushing 220whp. amazing grip, dont require a lot of warmup, a small burnout seemed to be plenty to make them super sticky. still quite sticky even when cold. obviously they dont handle too well, but not much worse than a set of cheapy all seasons imo. and braking is insane, not that theyre meant for it but i thought id throw that in. i also had the rare opprotunity to try them out in the rain, i didnt mean to but it happened, i was actually impressed on how well they did in the super wet for being dr's while i wouldnt do it again if i had the choice, it wasnt as scary as i thought it would be.

Brand: Goodyear Eagle GT
Size: 225/55/17
Road Noise: 2.5 - quiet , just a tad louder than ASX
Miles driven on them: <1K so far
Type of tire: All Season
this is early review/compare to ASX 225/50/17, got them few days ago, ride is MUCH softer, on center feel is slightly worse, they stick to the road very well, better than ASX.
they feel wobbly past 90 mph(was scared) car travels, probably need to bump my psi a few car feels unstable, and at WOT torque steer is evident even @ highway :waleed:.
overall i like the tire, much cushier ride and grip is phenomenal in dry, wet should have bigger difference. ohh and they get "hot" easily :noes:
Brand: BFGoodrich g-Force Sport
Size: 235/45/17
Road Noise: 3.5
Miles Driven: 5k
Type of tire: Ultra High Performance Summer
I had these on my Maxima for the past two years, but after I got rid my Maxima they sat in my garage over winter. I decided to throw them on my Mazdaspeed 6 since the Maxima and the 6 had the same bolt pattern. The tires are on 17in Rota Subzero's. I drove on them for the past 4 days, and I must say I haven't realized how noisy they are. I guess when I had my Maxima, the drone from my exhaust masked the tire noise. These tires handles wonderfully in dry conditions but when it rains not so well when they were on my Maxima. On the 6 I have yet to find out since the 6 is AWD. But if I had a chance I would go back to Kumho's that I used to have, those tires were all around good as summer tires.

Brand: Falken ZIEX ZE-912
Size: 225/50/R17
Road Noise: 1.5
Miles driven on them: 1K
Driving style: average
Type of tire: labeled as All Season but Summer Only
these are the worst a/s tires for snow EVER, these are summer tires labeled as a/s beware.
they are quieter than most a/s and grip better but they perform like summer on snow and ice so buying this is a BIG mistake, its better to get actual summer tire or good A/s if snow is possible.
i didnt buy them car came with them almost brand new

^^^^ I think these are the tires I have on my car now. I will go check later but if they are, I agree with you 100%. These things are horrible on snow/ice. I was driving 20-25 last year and on a wide turn on a side street my car skid out of control and my passenger side door is F'ed for a year now as a result. Hoping to get a better set for next winter.
